Matthew Heath is the man behind Grift Watch. He is known as Legal Gengar. His trial for the harassment of Stephanie Hayden has been adjourned until 19 October. It was due to happen today. The date for today’s trial was set back in February.

Has the trial started? None of the usual commentators have mentioned it.

Doesn't look like TT are following it. I know Nick Wallis is interested but can't see anything today as yet. LG has posted on X.

So far seems to have been delays because Hayden was late and because a 45min police bodycam video hadnt been viewable and 180 pages of correspondence between Hayden and the police had been declared not declarable to the defence to see if it should have been disclosed.

More from Daniel the MouseInTheCourt

DJ Sher has delivered her ruling after spending "significant amount of time" reviewing material. Application by defence for further disclosure from prosc declined.

Application "does not satisfy the disclosure test and there is no basis to order disclosure to the defence"

The crown have opened the case. We're told the charge is one count of Stalking contrary to section 2A(1) and (4) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

Mr Heath's conduct "descended into a campaign of harassment" by posting content on a website and on X/Twitter which was "abusive" and "derogatory in nature". Personal information about Stephanie Hayden was also shared about her online, the court was told

The crown say Article 10 Human Rights Act means the "freedom of the press must be protected" but as a qualified right this means journalists have a duty to behave responsibly

One such communication, said to have been posted by Heath, was "don’t you even dare mate, I’m watching you. Do you want to end up in the ICU?" which was taken as a threat of violence, the court was told

The crown say the defence is that the "posts and investigations were made by the defendant as a journalist" and that "none of the actions constitute a course of conduct"

Stephanie Hayden has entered the witness box and is now giving evidence in chief from behind a screen. She describes herself as "openly transgender" and that she has been involved in legal issues with so-called gender activists

The first communication by Heath to Hayden was on 11th Feb 2024, we're told Hayden says def "contacted me on the Sunday evening by email saying he was writing an article about me which he intended to publish and wanted to offer me, effectively, a right to reply"

The article was a "rehash of allegations" which had been posted on what was described as "an American hate website" concerning an alleged fraud from "7 or 8 years" ago. Hayden had "formed a view" this was an attempt to intimidate her ahead of a high court hearing 3-days-later

Khatib: "The article essentially portrays you as a fraudster, how do you feel about that?" "It’s a load of rubbish" says Hayden

The high court hearing on 14th Feb involved a Mr Doyle. The def, Mr Heath, was acting as Doyle's McKenzie friend in those proceedings, it's said

The publication of the information, including "spent convictions" were "designed to intimidate [and] make you feel powerless"

"If you take legal action against any of us we can dig up dirt from your past and make you feel like hell", was implied says Hayden

Hayden describes a set of "bizarre posts" by Heath, said to say the police had come round after he had breached undertaking not to disclose extracts from Hoyle litigation.

Hayden says no breach did occur and was actually Heath "soliciting online attention and symphothy"

The second article, labelled as "part 3", was a "very very detailed article" which would have require Heath "to have literally spent weeks going back on my twitter or other social media ... collating all that together to present my travel pattens over a 10 year period"

Hayden has been shown a screenshot of a website called KiwiFarms, said to show a forum thread of 300 or so pages about her.

Posts on the forum were said to have been made by Heath

Hayden says this was "part of his modus operandi to solicit support for himself and abuse of me"

Hayden is explaining the circumstances whereby her credit report, or extracts of, had been posted online.

She says Experian told her a subscription has been activated by third party, but closed a few days later by their fraud team.

"I was bloody furious" says Hayden

From Daniel the MouseInTheCourt

The subsequent posting of the report online was "an invasion of my privacy". Access to the report would have required "detailed biographical information" to "bypass security protocols" including name, address, DOB, and financial details

We're told the extracts of the credit report did not show references to an address in Cambridgeshire, which were present on the full report

A tweet by Mr Heath said he had been "doing my own searches on the land registry" which revealed ownership of the Cambridgeshire property

Hayden says it is not possible to search the land registry without a court order and therefore Mr Heath must have had sight of the unredacted credit report

The tweet was part of a "daily and sustained campaign of abuse and intimidation", Hayden says

It's said the defendant posted on twitter that the Cambridgeshire property "looks like a house from outside"

This gave me the impression that Mr Heath had visited, Hayden says

Distractable · 19/10/2026 15:39

Hayden is mistaken about the Land Registry, which you can search for a fee, and about the need for in person visits to property in the age of Google Maps.

murasaki · 19/10/2026 15:40

Thanks, I don't have x so this is really appreciated.

Also I thought you could search the land registry?

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 19/10/2026 15:42

I thought you could too.

murasaki · 19/10/2026 15:44

We can't expect Fat Tony to know anything about the law.

Another2Cats · 19/10/2026 15:44

From Daniel the MouseInTheCourt

"Do not follow this link. There are bobble hats involved" we're told a tweet by Mr Heath reads.

Hayden says Heath was "posting a link for sexualised titillation" to 12,000 of his followers.

The link is said to be an archive of an old dating profile of Hayden's from 2006.

How did you fell about the posting of that link, Khatib asks.

"Powerless, intimidated, worn down and fed up. … 'look at how much I can invade your life if you dare to challenge me'" says Hayden

I use the Land Registry quite often. You can set up an account for free. Search a property and download copies of the title deeds, leaseholds etc for a reasonable fee.
You can also set up an alert for free against your own property and the Land Registry will let you know if anyone has undertaken a search against it.
Hayden is talking bollocks when he says you need a court order to search.

Hayden is mistaken about the Land Registry, which you can search for a fee, and about the need for in person visits to property in the age of Google Maps.

What I think he is suggesting is that Heath must already have known about or suspected the existence of a property in Cambridgeshire beforehand which then led him to search the Land Registry.

I think Hayden is saying that it is not possible to go to the Land Registry and ask them to supply details of any property owned by a particular person unless you are an executor or similar. It can be done, but only if you have a specific reason for doing that.

Otherwise, you would have to at least know of the existence of the property and have some idea of where it was before you would start doing a search for the property.

From Daniel the MouseInTheCourt

The court is now being shown a tweet by Heath said to say "Don’t you even dare mate. I’m watching you. Do you want to end up in the ICU?" complete with a red angry emoji.

"That was a threat of violence ... Heath is 19 years younger than me" says Hayden

Hayden is telling us about two convictions from Liverpool Crown Court in 1997

We're told the certificate of conviction was unlawfully obtained, a point apparently certified by the Admin court.

Mr Heath "focused on this conviction" and "I experienced daily abuse, horrific abuse"

His "12,000 followers get riled up and then they join in".

A post inaccurately alleging Hayden's cousin had committed suicide was "shocking and disgusting", we were told

Hayden says "I’m not proud of my involvement in those offences. They were an extreme error of judgment on my part… I was not a child I should have known better…The way those convictions have been portrayed [by Heath] is a gross misrepresentation of those facts."

Hayden is explaining how the block feature on Twitter changed after Musk took the site over. Despite having blocked Mr Heath, Hayden is saying Heath's followers would still tag her, or post screen shots of tweets

Another2Cats · 19/10/2026 16:21

From Daniel the MouseInTheCourt

Khatib says Mr Heath has been misgendering her in posts and asks how this makes her feel.

Hayden says if "he wants to refer to me as a hedgehog he can" Adds the misgendering only started after she sued him

Evidence-in-chief finished at 16.12. Ms Hausdorff, rep defendant, requests two hours for cross examination.

Hayden is released from the witness box and told to return for 10am tomorrow

There’s an awful lot of his own behaviour being held up here - pot and kettle come to mind.

BezMills · 19/10/2026 18:56

Every accusation a confession with this one

Rightsraptor · 19/10/2026 22:39

I have bought documents from the Land Registry before now, both for my property and for a neighbouring one because of overhanging trees etc. But I thought I'd do a little experiment on this dull autumn evening.

Using Google maps, I zoomed in on a town at the opposite end of the country (England) from where I am now, and I randomly chose an address. Then I used the postcode finder to get the full address. Next step was to log on to the Land Registry website, enter the details I had found about two minutes before and discovered that for £7 each I could buy a copy of the Title Register and the Title Plan for this property and that these would show details of restrictive covenants and easements. Going by my experience of buying my neighbours' LR docs, I expect I'd also learn the name(s) of the owner(s), the date they bought the property and what they paid.

So of course Fat Tony is totally wrong (no surprise). Obviously it would be a very inefficient way of tracking down where any individual lives, and just because you own a property doesn't mean you live there, so you'd have to take another approach to get that info but I know that's not difficult and certainly does not need a court order.

Is Fat Tony trying to imply a visit in person (like he did himself to at least one of his victims)? Every allegation a confession.

Ever heard of Google Maps?
