does that mean the other person in this case will have to pay costs?

Matthew says this:

The High Court proceedings against me have been discontinued in full for both claims (defamation and an injunction) effective immediately. I am therefore entitled to my costs amounting to a substantial sum.

Whether he will actually manage to collect is another matter.

miuri · 10/03/2026 12:10

I’m glad there have finally been some consequences.

DelusionalBeliefSystemMaintainedByBullying · 10/03/2026 12:10

Also note these are the civil proceedings that have been discontinued. He still faces prosecution for alleged stalking.

Hoardasurass · 10/03/2026 12:40

Hopefully the police will drop their ridiculous charges or atleast the draconian bail conditions that Matthew is under now

There’s not a chance fat tony has the means to pay up unfortunately.

TWETMIRF · 11/03/2026 08:36

Has he ever paid any of the money he's been ordered to by courts?

Igmum · 11/03/2026 13:11

I don’t think so TWET. We can only hope that Legal Gengar is successful in getting him condemned as a vexatious litigant.

ISTR Adrian Yelland recovered at least some costs from the enthusiastic litigant but that was a few years ago. Caroline Farrow probably has the accurate deets.

DrLouiseJMoody · 11/03/2026 15:32

He owes Adrian circa. £3500, I think. £35,000 to the Daily Mail (interest is several thousand now), £15,000-ish to an ex-landlord, £15,000 to the Family Education Trust and this is just what's on record (several victims have contacted me over the years but don't want to deal with court). Meanwhile, he thinks minor procedural wins of a few hundred pounds are something to boast about.

His entire existence is one gigantic embarrassment and a joke.

POWNewcastleEastWallsend · 11/03/2026 15:53

All the people who have been put through the wringer and are out of pocket due to his shenanigans - that's what he does it for, not the pitiful sums he sometimes wins. The sooner he is branded a Vexatious Litigant the better. It is a scandal he has been allowed to get away with this for so long.

Will he pay up though? Or is this just another round of 'process as punishment' where someone is dragged through investigations, accusations and courts only for it all to be abandoned with no consequence except the trauma caused to the person accused?

He won’t pay up. And he should be denied access to bring any other civil cases unless he can prove he can cover the potential costs of current cases as well as the costs he is already ordered to pay for previous cases.

nauticant · 16/03/2026 12:08

Yes, I view this as being more of a tactical measure that in a future case a defendant will be able to make an application for a security for costs order to be applied against Hayden that might stop the case in its tracks.

TWETMIRF · 16/03/2026 12:26

Yes. As he has repeatedly not paid the costs he's been ordered to, he should not be allowed to bring any other cases until they are paid in full

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/03/2026 12:31

And he obviously has money, he's constantly tweeting about his trips to south Africa, or European railway journeys

JaquelineHide · 16/03/2026 12:39

It's an absolute joke really. He's clearly a vexatious litigant who doesn't pay up, yet he keeps bringing these cases!

Justme56 · 16/03/2026 14:00

It’s an interim payment of £20k to be paid in 28 days. Total costs are nearer £50k but it seems the Judge hasn’t decided on the rest.

CarefulN0w · 16/03/2026 14:58

Is the interim order significant? As in would non-payment of the first part affect the judge’s decision on the second?

I think the chances of 20K coming out of SH's bank account are slim to middling either way.

UtopiaPlanitia · 16/03/2026 16:18

I don’t understand why there’s no legal enforcement of the costs orders - can courts instruct bailiffs to recover costs?

EmpressDomesticatednottamed · 16/03/2026 16:27

Legal Gengar says on X he is considering enforcement proceedings, anyone know how that works?

Also, LG refers readers to Charles Terf on X, solicitor, presumably involved, and CT says that Haydens face was a picture of fury, which is cheering to read.

I’m sure it was just a dewy, ladylike glow. Any insinuation that he had a face as red as a baboon’s arse are just hateful, bigoted rumours 😂😂

IIRC, the last time he succeeded in a case, everything he was awarded went to the Daily Mail, to whom he owes a considerable sum. I wonder if he's puddled enough to think he can go on bringng cases in order to pay the legal debts he has already accrued?

I’m not sure how it works against individuals but when I was involved in enforcing judgments it went one of two ways - a winding up order (the equivalent of bankruptcy) or seizure of assets. Either pay up or be forced out of existence - that’s for companies mind, you can’t force a person out of existence so I suspect the equivalent is bankruptcy/prison.
