I mean, I'll wait until I get there but I genuinely can't imagine who that would convince except a complete fool given that a) it's a fallacious appeal to authority in place of reasoned argument; b) Helen Joyce has of course also met plenty of transgender people by this point; and c) at root it relies completely on the basis of, "I must accept whatever someone says to me uncritically as the absolute unvarnished and completed truth".

HW happily telling everyone they can get around the puberty blocker ban by prescribing different meds to under 16s.

'A 15-year-old child was prescribed dangerous levels of hormones by an unregulated online clinic without speaking to a doctor, a court ruling has revealed.
Now 16, the teenager, known as J, was born female but identifies as a boy and has an autism diagnosis.
J got a prescription for testosterone and puberty blockers from Singapore-owned GenderGP in late 2022.
He had previously been unable to get the treatment through the NHS.
Judge Sir Andrew McFarlane said: "There must be very significant concern about the prospect of a young person such as J accessing cross-hormone treatment from any off-shore, online, unregulated private clinic."

Yes, I don't think I've ever witnessed someone combine such a patronising air with such total ignorance.

I suppose I'm not completely surprised that she could not understand the Equality Act or Supreme Court judgment (or our legal system in general) less if she tried but her utter blathering about the definition of sex not referring to the roles in sexual reproduction is staggeringly ignorant in a medical doctor (particularly bearing in mind she is explicitly attempting to stand on the suggestion that medicine is her area of expertise).

I’m afraid that we may think she’s petulant and ill-formed but if I didn’t know anything about this I might think she’s got a point.
