As usual the blue rinse brigade are currently losing their shit, the major cycling press titles are covering it and the Facebook comments are delicious.

It’s good to see Cycling UK respecting the law as clarified by the Supreme Court ruling. However, it’s disappointing that they felt the need to emphasise they only acted after receiving legal advice, and then added a statement about their commitment to inclusion for trans and non-binary people. This is a women’s award, they didn’t need to justify complying with the law. Including that context seems to have inflamed tensions further, prompting several women to withdraw their nominations. It also appears that Cycling UK may now review the scheme, which hints at the likelihood that if men can no longer be included, they will discontinue it altogether.
