Following further reports that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) continue to use rape as a weapon of war, the Foreign Secretary also said:

The reports from Darfur in recent days are truly horrifying. Atrocities, mass executions, starvation and the devastating use of rape as a weapon of war, with women and children bearing the brunt of the largest humanitarian crisis in the 21st Century.

I dont think I have ever seen this before ie a public statement that money is being allocated to support women who have suffered rape during a war.

The reports of the violence against women are horrific.

Good to hear. In fact the only tiny sliver of a silver lining I've heard so far.

The details of what's happening in Sudan are just unbearable. I hope someone finds a way to help the survivors, and for god's sake put an end to the war.

There is part of me that wonders how they can actually help.

From tv news, it doesn't look like aid or support can get anywhere near the violence.

But I suppose if it means that if any women can escape there is help and support, that is better than nothing.

Its just all so depressing.
