Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Help me with a succinct question for the Green Party about sex & gender

BobLobla · 30/10/2025 08:29

DH, dd2 and dd1’s bf have all joined the Green Party in the past few weeks. I’ve told DH I can’t support them bc of their stance on sex and gender.

DH got asked if he’d like a phone chat with our Green Party rep so they’re talking tomorrow. I want DH to ask about sex and gender but need a clear succinct, non-confrontational (otherwise DH won’t ask it) question that they will find difficult to sound reasonable about if it’s phrased right.

Ask them whether Green Party policy allows for some biological female only spaces according to the law (mention the April Supreme Court judgment) when there is a need for this.

teawamutu · 30/10/2025 09:01

Why should I trust you on the science of climate change when your leader claims biological sex doesn't exist and he can make women's breasts bigger through the power of thought?

Gettingmadderallthetime · 30/10/2025 09:02

How will the GP support women And girls who want to be accommodated (hostels, searched (police), examined (health services), get changed (swim teams etc) or share traumatic experiences with other women in single sex spaces without men who identify as women there? Effectively are there any limits to TWAW - the new leader does not seen to believe so.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/10/2025 09:04

That would be my fantasy question because it would be hilarious to hear the response, but it’s likely that OP’s DH is going to see it as confrontational 🤣

Mine? Yeah, I did realise after I posted it that it wasn't exactly fulfilling the brief on non-controversial. I just couldn't resist.

teawamutu · 30/10/2025 09:07

I did actually ask a Green rep that once. He didn't actually say 'look, there are loonies at the top' but he didn't not say it.

Bluebootsgreenboots · 30/10/2025 09:20

Do you think that women have the right to choose which men they do and don't take their clothes off in front of?

Bluebootsgreenboots · 30/10/2025 09:21

Or - how can we trust you to follow the science on climate change when you can't follow the science on something that's obvious to a 3 year old - sex?

BobLobla · 30/10/2025 09:24

These are (mostly) useable! And all very good. Thank you. I’ll be interested to see what’s said in response . I’ll report back …

Why is the Green Party allowing a small bunch of extremists to steer the party's direction into the rocks and risk bankruptcy by its undemocratic and probably illegal behaviour towards people, particularly women, with perfectly normal views shared by the vast majority of the electorate?

I thought there had been a big uptick in paid memberships since Polanski was elected leader? No sure they're on the verge of bankruptcy

Green finances are way better.

BUT they also have done stuff like banning Green Women's Declaration from conference which will fail in court.

With ZP mouthing off he might undermine Greens defence in court. We will see what happens.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/10/2025 11:51

They have several expensive court cases in the wings. The first case against them brought by Shahrar Ali cost them several hundred thousand pounds in costs and 90k odd damages and he has brought another case for their subsequent behaviour to him, and at least two women have brought cases which are currently awaiting their day in court. It’s a pricey business.

Large number of members doesn't necessarily mean a large income from membership fees when the unwaged (students, unemployed, retired etc) pay only £6/year & those on a low income pay just £13/year.

Join the Green Party and ask the questions and then say you are horrified by their response and leave. My question would be about single sex spaces being safe from anyone who says they identify as a woman. They don’t have to prove it so in effect any man can use them.

Beowulfa · 30/10/2025 14:49

"I'd love to vote for a centre-left party strong on environmental issues and women's rights. Do you know of any in the UK?"

But anyone opting to stay in such circumstances is as mad as the mad people at the top.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 30/10/2025 22:20

What is the party position on the Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act? And are there any party policies you plan to change in response?

Neutral, and an open question.

In the response, as well as details you can count the number of times they say 'LGBTQ+' and how many times they say 'women'.

RogueFemale · 30/10/2025 22:24

@BobLobla Can't be arsed with Green Party stuff. These days it's all about including trans, - when you think it's about caring about trees and wildlife (it's not). I voted in a Green councillor and she's just wet and can't cope with stuff about the Green Party's pro-trans activism.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 30/10/2025 22:24

Does the Green Party recognise female people's right to self identify as different from trans women?

newtlover · 30/10/2025 22:33

actually I have some respect for the local councillors who are doing their best its not their fault the people at the top are mad

Edited

My local Green councillor didn't bother to reply to my email saying I couldn't vote for her again when the Green Party doesn't stand up for women's rights.

She's a woman and has pronouns She/Her in her email signature. She and the party are captured by trans ideology.

newtlover · 30/10/2025 22:58

they aren't all though
I email every green candidate who wants my vote and ask them a carefully neutral question about sex/gender
I get a range of answers
TWAW- then I reply explaining why I won't vote for them
er its complicated and I don't really understand- I reply with some explanation, we have a dialogue
I appreciate your concerns and will bear them in mind when its relevant- I vote for them
