I am in complete agreement with her.

deadpan · 20/10/2025 15:21

Falling at the first hurdle and failing these girls/women when they've been failed for so long.

GoldThumb · 20/10/2025 15:28

It’s just the same bullshit all the fucking time.

No-one gives a shit about these girls, they are too busy trying to cover their own arses.

I remember seeing her on Newsnight within the last couple of months and she really owns her voice now. Whereas as a child, she was ignored. And she's correct here and is right to call it out. It's a shame as she would have a lot to contribute, but I can't blame her in any way, and I hope (but don't expect) that they have a rethink.

PrettyDamnCosmic · 20/10/2025 17:17

Apparently she objects in principle to either a police officer or a social worker chairing the inquiry.

Currently the prospective candidates to chair the inquiry are Jim Gamble a former chief constable & Annie Hudson the chair of the child safeguarding practice review panel who is a social worker.

Coatsoff42 · 20/10/2025 18:09

How she came through such awful experiences and remains willing to be involved with police and social work again is beyond me.
Imagine the horrors, and then leaving your own home, your own psychological safety, to go through it again and again with strangers in order to try to make things better. I’m impressed she even tried.
I honestly think these poor girls should get massive financial compensation for the crappy society we have, that left them all alone with these awful men at such a young age.

Her concerns about both those professions are valid given her and others experience of grooming. Surely it’d be relatively straightforward to find someone independent? A member of the judiciary removed from the scandal for example. Why appoint someone from the two professions that failed those girls.

givenitupnow · 20/10/2025 18:29

All these inquiries involve services marking their own homework. Of course they don't want an independent chair.
The level of corruption everywhere in this country is obscene.

I genuinely think we should have asked a judge from a commonwealth country to lead it, perhaps Australia. The points she raised were incredibly concerning and frankly it looks like a whitewash.

GoldThumb · 20/10/2025 21:36

You isolated us by discouraging contact with each other and with our support networks

It did not go unnoticed how you were paying us just as those that groomed us once did

This is fucking outrageous

SionnachRuadh · 20/10/2025 21:37

It's not difficult to appoint a judge as the chair. Judges chair these panels all the time. There must be a few retired Lady Justices kicking about who could do it.

So the choice of chair is between a former policeman (who's also an active Labour supporter) and a social worker.

Which three groups are most culpable in the whole scandal?

Police. Social workers. The Labour Party.

A cynic might think the whole thing has been designed to fail.

defrazzled · 20/10/2025 21:58

Its outrageous that there is not a judge chairing this. I am glad these women are holding their power.

Another survivor, Ellie-Ann Reynolds, has now resigned as well.

The final turning point for me was the push to widen the remit of the National Inquiry in ways that downplay the racial and religious motivations behind our abuse.

They are absolute bastards 🤬

Yes. Wonderful letter by Reynolds.

RogueFemale · 20/10/2025 22:16

Who do we write to to support these women? MP? or what?

Pudmyboy · 20/10/2025 22:32

Ellie-Ann's letter is blistering in it's honesty, it should be on the front pages of all news outlets imo.

I wonder what religious and racial motivations she think the many white male perpetrators have?

They ought to be able to find a barrister, they often step up in such circumstances.

Dawninglory · 21/10/2025 07:26

"Down playing the racial and religious motivations behind the abuse " So that means they are all of Asian descent. And the government doesn't want anymore riots over immigration or foreign policy. Just sweeping it under the carpet, like Sadiq Khan has been doing for the past 8yrs.

Freysimo · 21/10/2025 07:36

I could weep for these brave women. They have been let down so badly, and all to save Labour's Muslim vote.

This is a great suggestion. Just someone completely unconnected to UK establishment and who understands our legal system. That’s all that’s needed and will help to keep it clear of any institutional corruption.
No institution is going to come out of this looking good. It holds up a mirror to prejudice and self interest and lack of safeguarding.

Dawninglory · 21/10/2025 07:41

The problem is that the records of abusers are not clear. 85% are White the rest forgein. But only 30% of the records have race included. I wonder why......
