Roisin Murphy vs Boy George Twitter spat

Has anybody seen this? Does anybody know why Boy George is coming for Roisin Murphy? Is it because of the comments she made about puberty blockers?

I have to say I am a massive fan of her music so absolutely delighted if she's on team Terf she's such an intelligent creative woman.

Her stage shows are an absolute Joy I've seen in many times in fact I'm going next week to see her, think she's supporting confidence man. We may leave before he comes on though I'm only really going for Roisin.

She is definitely on team Terf - she was cancelled about a year ago because of it.

Two years ago she wrote on FB:

"Puberty blockers are f***, absolutely desolate, big pharma laughing all the way to the bank.
Little mixed-up kids are vulnerable and need to be protected, that’s just true.
Please don’t call me a terf, please don’t keep using that word against women."

boy George is a nasty bully who makes himself relevant by making an enemy of talented people far more famous than himself

Well I hope everybody is supporting her because he's the most horrible man.

I do remember her record label refusing to promote her latest album which was amazing because of the comments that she made about puberty blockers.

Having said that I think it went on to be her most successful album so I don't think it really had a detrimental effect I certainly bought it.

I don't think that makes her a terf at all. It's a word frequently thrown around by others when they can't have a sensible debate or conversation surrounding these important issues.

Yeah I agree I think that "Terf" seems to be a word thrown at women to make them fall into line. It's like "Karen". Just the new "witch".

Does BG have a go at blokes too or is it just women.

BG is just one example of a really appalling, violent man, with a criminal record, being feted and celebrated on television. There are so many of them, it is depressing.

He's had a few run ins over the years and always comes out looking stupid. He never learns. Poor RM was quietly dropped by the BBC after the puberty blocker stuff last year but I have noticed they have quietly reintroduced playing her again.

I'm not on the twitter but I can't imagine anyone 'bullying' Róisín. She'll give twice as good as she gets. She got 'cancelled' for all of about 10 minutes in 2023 when 6Music dropped the then just released Hit Parade from their rotation, but then Lauren Laverne just started playing it anyway and it was as if nothing had happened. The window has shifted so much on this since then that I can't imagine anything will stick.

I love Roisin Murphy, she’s been my personal definition of cool since I was 17 and bought “Things To Make And Do” with my Saturday job money.
I actually saw her live just after she posted on FB and she had a great, adoring crowd.
Boy George is a whiny has-been who spent time in jail for assault and according to Popbitch used to paint his double chin black so it didn’t show up in photographs.

What has he said this time? Any links?

Poor Roisin still receives hate. The stage hands refused to put her stage set together when she supported grace jones last year.

I've been a Boy George fan for 40 years but I really have changed my mind about him over the past couple of years. He doesn't seem like a particularly nice person and that's so disappointing.

Every time I see BG I think about that story of him painting his neck black to hide his double chins. Popbitch Gold that was.

Saw Roisin years ago in the old ABC in Glasgow. Excellent gig.

She's truly unique and still original which is more than be said for Boy George, who's nothing but an aging drama queen.
