@Another2Cats got a link for that tweet? I'd like to send him my own thread about girls being made to change with boys because the school is waiting for that guidance...

It's from a paper he wrote back in July

For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers:
Why the Supreme Court’s judgment does not remove, diminish or breach the
rights and protections of trans people

The bit that I copied and pasted is paras 134 and 135 right at the very bottom

In case you're wondering, Oldsquare is the name of the chambers where Ben Cooper is Deputy Head.

It means Powell is a numpty who doesn't understand how the legal system works.

She’s never struck me as one of the Labour Party’s great intellects.

Ben Cooper’s paper is very clear and a good one to share with organisations.

Ben Cooper’s paper is so clear in explaining how the SC judgment does not remove, diminish or breach the rights and protections of "trans people" that when I posted it on Transgender UK on Reddit I got permanently banned.

Insanity. In the article:

One MP said: “I back Bridget, but if this guidance is published before the vote closes there’s no way I can vote for her. I’ve got a big LGBT community in my constituency and I’d never get their vote again.”

But about women’s vote???! Surely he has a ‘big female community’ in his constituency too?? 🙄🙄🙄

Even greater insanity from that unnamed MP. The Labour Party Deputy Leader is elected by a secret ballot of the members so even if the MP voted for her there is no way of their TRA constituents discovering that they voted for Phillipson.

Thank you for clarifying that. I don’t know.

So, virtue signalling for the sake of it…

"Ministers must not delay single-sex guidance"

I understand Philipsons decision. As soon as the guidance is released the wailing and howling of TRAs will be deafening and Philipson will be held responsible by all of them. The Labour Party is quite evenly divided on this issue and so her chances will plummet to nil. I think she will stand up to the TRAs but has taken the pragmatic decision that a couple more weeks won’t make any real difference to women’s rights when we’ve been waiting years, but could potentially make a big difference between having a full on handmaiden influencing the party and govt going forward or someone sane. Don’t shoot me but I think it’s the right decision.

Oh I get the logic, like 100%. it's just when you are waiting for that guidance to help your own daughter.... anyway. Politics are politics.

The vote for deputy leader ends on 23rd so if she is prevaricating until then so be it. I voted for Bridget but Lucy looks to be ahead as Bridget has been cursed by being annointed as the preferred number 10 candidate. There's enough gnashing and wailing by the membership to thus favour Lucy. In any event, Bridget's hands will be untied on 24th and hopefully she will lay the guidelines before Parliament. Even if a debate is forced, at least the squirming cowardly MPs will be flushed out and I'm pretty sure the guidelines will pass. I think a lot of MPs will have urgent dental appointments that day.
