Celebrity Traitors

Apparently features Stephen Fry, which seems absolutely the right thing, given how he has already betrayed women/ gay/ lesbian rights.

Also Tom Daley - similar. Which other celebrities should go in there on these grounds? Gary Lineker? David Tennant?

Much though I love Claudia, I think the women’s rights version should be hosted by JK. And be Harry Potter themed.

Traitors? Read a lot of the Daily Mail, do you?

You don’t have to read the Mail to educate yourself about Fry’s thoughts on women, child abuse and lesbians. There’s a round-up here on The Critic - you agree with every one of his points, do you? https://thecritic.co.uk/the-cowardice-of-sir-stephen-fry/

And an old article in The Guardian about his views on women and sex: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2010/oct/31/stephen-fry-sex-women-relationships-attitude

Just because someone (particularly a man) has a lovely, cosy TV persona doesn’t mean all his views are lovely and cosy too. I stand by my point – Fry and other very privileged celebrities have betrayed women.

Stephen Fry shocks feminists by claiming women don't really like sex

Women are just as capable as men of enjoying sex and remarks are 'kind of rubbish', says feminist writer Rosie Boycott

I know this is your little corner of Mumsnet and we should just leave you all to it, but since this comes up in the active section (ie we don’t actively seek you out) you should expect some of the criticism you’ve received here. It is just so strange to me that literally every single thing is viewed through your ‘gender critical’ lens. There’s lots of things I care about too, but I’m not obsessed with them in the same way. Baffling.

I’m not obsessed. But I view the world with feminist eyes because I am a woman. So it defines the way I see things. And I care about other women and girls and don’t want them to get hurt. I find it strange when people – particularly other women – don’t view the world through this lens.

Pretty sure statistically women are more at risk from straight, cis gender men than anyone trans. Very odd post. As this is a Mumsnet site, I really really hope that none of these parents who are transphobic through bigotry or ignorance have a child who comes out as trans. They’ll be in for a rough ride! 😢

Women are at risk from men full stop – it doesn’t matter how they identify. Proportionally, there are more people in prison who identify as trans who have been convicted of sex crimes than the cis white men you reference (although there are obviously far more of the latter in prison). Here is a reference if you want to read more about it: https://fairplayforwomen.com/transgender-male-criminality-sex-offences/

And a lot of women on this board have been or are in precisely the situation you reference. That is why a lot women are here – because they care about other women and children. I think you need to ask yourself whether the men behind the demonisation of feminism also have those good intentions.

Transgender women criminality shows male pattern | Fair Play For Women

Transgender women in prison exhibit a male-type pattern of criminality, new data confirms. Crimes match birth sex not gender identity. So....

Anyway, back to the OP!

To be honest, there could be an all Scottish version!

Nicola Sturgeon
Iona Fyfe
Alan Cumming
David Tennant

List goes on...

I think you’re right!

You see here is what I don’t get so I’ll give you a scenario ‘Meet John’.

John is a man, some may refer to him as a cis man. He could be your friend, family, neighbour. You like John. One day John walks into the women’s toilets/changing rooms. The women feel embarrassed, maybe threatened. John knows he shouldn’t be there so leaves.

A few weeks later you meet John. John tells you he is now transitioning and now wants to be known as Joanne. He’s struggled with this for sometime and wants to be his/her authentic self. From now on John/Joanne will be using the women’s changing rooms/toilets.

John/Joanne is still the same person, but in one scenario it’s wrong, but in the second it’s okay. What has happened in those few weeks other than the person saying they are trans.

John is Pete’s brother, he’s a plasterer 😂

worrisomeasset · 09/10/2025 10:30

To be fair, Wossie has dipped his toe into the controversy and has been GC. Sadly, he made such a big blunder in the first episode that he’ll probably be quickly identified as a traitor.

I thought this was a fun thread about Celeb Traitors? This veer is so tedious - use another thread for that debate.

Just raw onions? What kind of bread? Any condiments? Much more detail required.

Oh and onions are transphobic BTW

Raw onion sandwiches - white bread, butter, onion (raw, sliced, plentiful), sprinkling of salt. I first discovered these when visiting family in Ireland as a kid. They’re lovely.

@intrepidgiraffe It is just so strange to me that literally every single thing is viewed through your ‘gender critical’ lens that’s feminism you’re observing.

Why do you hate women?

Screamingabdabz · 09/10/2025 12:01

How ironic that the ‘baffled’ posters who’ve taken a wrong turn from ‘active’ complain about hating and frothing and cesspits but I only see one set of posters demonstrating those qualities.

Some people really, really don’t give a shit about the dignity and protections of women and girls do they? So depressing. 😔

Umidontknow · 09/10/2025 12:33

Absentosaur · 08/10/2025 21:22

Well he thinks that the girls overrated in Rochdale were ‘child prostitutes’, amongst other things. See link

Racists, transphobes, misogynists - all here. It is depressing.

According to some posters on the thread, your idea of fun is 'transphobic', or didn't you read the comments before you plopped.

So good you quoted me twice 🤣🤣

This is not a feminist space despite being labelled as such.

It is a space full of people who seem to think that more rights for someone else means less rights for them.

It doesn’t work that way.

The justifications people here try to use to absolve themselves of responsibility is outstanding.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/10/2025 18:08

This is a feminist space, I imagine you’ve never been in one before. Here we centre the needs of women and girls. I’m sure that’s a novelty.

If you're advocating for the removal of women's legal rights to single sex services, which are detailed in the EQA2010 and were confirmed by the Supreme Court judgement in April, then you are absolutely lessening the rights of women in order to benefit men.

And that's definitely not feminist. More male supremacist really.

(And the 'rights aren't a pie' argument? Soooo 2018)
