Red Cross cold callers

I've just had a couple of lads knock on my door asking me if I would pay a monthly subscription towards the Red Cross. V friendly & polite, and I, hopefully equally friendly & politely, declined, explaining that I've recently started paying a monthly donation to 2 other charities, taking it up to 6 in total. They said that was fine, and then one of them said, 'I know this cheeky but I don't suppose you have any snacks?' have to say I was pretty surprised, and felt put on the spot for the 2nd time in 5 minutes, but they were only young, so I said I didn't really have any snacks, but that I could give them some fruit from the garden, which they accepted. Is it just me or was that a bit bloody cheeky of them asking for food when they're doing their job?!

Next time just shut the door before they can get into their spiel. That's what I do.

A) you don’t have to justify why you don’t want to donate to a random charity because chuggers have knocked on your door.
B) It was not acceptable for them to ask you for snacks, I’d report them to the charity, what if they did to a vulnerable person who let them into their kitchen?

Never turn your back on someone you don't know at the front door. I would report them.

Wanting to know that thoughts of women who are feminists as opposed to some random group of women whose opinions you aren't interested in!

I’m a feminist. I don’t answer the door to cold callers—I’m a busy, working mum who doesn’t have time to stand at the door and be badgered for donations. And it lets all of the heat out. Just no.
