NUS freshers survey and captured language

Been sent a freshers survey by NUS - under the "Liberation" topic it conflates sex and gender, talks about transphobia without defining it, and lumps the T with LGB.

If you are a student I would love you to look at the survey and perhaps get through the captured drivel to the white space text area to explain why the survey is impossible to complete if you don't believe in gender and sex being the same thing or wish to separate the T from LGB. On the other hand - maybe some of you will think it is fit for purpose. :-)

My survey link is here - it may out me to NUS but hey ho.

If it’s a survey which asks about hours of paid work during university term and pay , and it’s directed at freshers, how will they know? They’ve only just started, or haven’t even done that yet if they are at Oxford.

The gender section isn’t the only one with poor questions.

Yes, I did answer the ‘gender’ section as well.

Aaagh - it’s now asking me if my rent has increased since the last academic year.

Is this really for freshers?

I’m not going to complete it so can’t get far.

It’s a political effort done to harvest email addresses and produce some press releases on existing campaigns - ‘70% of students concerned at anti-migrant rhetoric in the UK’. It’s not a research survey or any genuine attempt to gauge where political opinion is for students in the UK. Which I agree is a shame.
