50/60 DSD athletes in Women’s finals, World Athletics say!

Great article by good old Sean Ingle in the Guardian on 19th September about the systematic cheating since 2010 (brought to my attention on Helen Lewis’ Substack). I feel so angry with all those sports journalists that were wringing their hands in sympathy for male cheats in women’s sports.

Sex tests brought in after data showed 50-60 DSD athletes in finals, World Athletics says

And further down the article is this 'In total between 2000 and 2023, Bermon said there had been 135 DSD finalists in elite international events, given some of the 50 to 60 athletes competed in more than one final. He also showed a slide that said that DSD cases are 151.9 times more likely than would be expected given the number of DSD individuals in the general population.'

And later a comment that this may be underrepresentation.
That is because these figures are based on results of doping tests which threw up high testosterone. I assume they are only counting those who clearly were out of female range.

I'm sure apologies will be raining down any second now from those who screamed we were bigots and racists for pointing out that these were men when we turned out to be right all along

any second now......

Sean Ingle's been the rare example of an ethical Guardian journalist shining light on murky issues in sport rather than promoting their own niche beliefs.

Thank you Litter. Athletics is one of the sports most affected by this because (at grassroots) it is an inexpensive sport to participate in so developing countries, where these DSDs are least likely to be diagnosed, will be fielding credible teams. This is exacerbated by spotters who deliberately seek out DSD males to enter women’s competitions. Thank heavens for Seb Coe.
