“Let me put the matter to you more directly, as someone who holds office in a department with responsibility for equality – can you, as First Minister clarify, can a woman have a penis?”

not sure I like the image of a bullying man harrassing a woman as an appropriate illustration.

Sad

Not only is that kind of TWAW talk beginning to sound old-fashioned these days, I also wonder how deep into the Sinn Féin membership that it goes.
I think that about most Irish political parties, in fact - there's a veneer of genderwoo at the top, but the rank and file have more sense.

Oh Michelle!

Very useful clarification of what the Sinn Fein official position is, just in case I might have been tempted to vote for someone endorsed by them. (I wasn't).

Pity.

I know that “fully fledged” has a general meaning as well as a specific one. But I am rather taken by the First Minister’s claim to be a “fully fledged woman”. Maybe she identifies as a hen.

Mary-Lou (SF leader in South) has a TW brother. Expect that’s part of the reason for the dodging. Not representative of the views of the average Shinner voter. Probably one of the few things that SF rank and file and DUP/ UUP/ TUV agree on.

I suppose at least she knows she's a woman, which is one step up from all the Fife bods in the ET!

FFS, there's just no poetry in this anymore.

Remember those halcyon days when UN Women(?) referred to us as an essence or something like that? Have this lot not got any imagination?

I meant the comment where she said she said she was a biological baby girl and now she's a woman (although admittedly she could be employing the Beth Upton definition of biological there I suppose)

MarieDeGournay · 23/09/2025 21:24

I can imagine there was a sharp intake of breath when somebody said the word Penis in StormontGrin

Even more shocking - it was a TUV MLA - Traditional Unionist Voice being a very conservative party, I'm surprised one of them mentioned.. that sort of thing. Out loud. In mixed company.😧

Sorry - it was meant to be a joke. Her having described growing up female and then welcoming men as though they shared that experienced.

Confused
