Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

If Shon Faye is sad that "it's over" this young man's experience is why most of us are glad.

It's a long watch at nearly an hour. He explains what happened to him with a lot of dignity. He must have gone through hell.
Basically this young man was medically transed around 13 years of age (in the States), the clinic used coercion when his mum was doubtful that was the right path - that he would be removed from her care (because they could do that in the State where they lived). The endocrinologist performed what sounds like a sexual assault while "examining"him. He was told his dating pool would be non existent if he didn't trans and that he would be an ugly adult. Not only did they put him on oestrogen at 13, they then put him on blockers and height restricting drugs, because they thought he would be too tall for a woman. So now instead of being an estimated 6 foot, he's 5'7".
And if that wasn't bad enough, they gave him and his mum - who sounded as though she tried to resist as much as she could - a voucher for a sex shop under the guise of providing him with props so he would "pass".
He can't sue because the laws in his state say it would have had to have been started within two years of the mal practise.
Classic background too, autistic, effeminate male part of a religious family who's dad and brother made fun of him and used slurs regularly infront of him. But it wasn't the family who initiated the trans-ing, it was a social worker and the endocrinologist.

Thanks deadpan I have added this to my list for the weekend. This is a very concerning story and I hope he has plenty of support around him.

I listened today. Horrific. Every medical professional should be forced to listen this. It’s like something out of a parent’s worst nightmare. He was tortured by these doctors and his body will never fully recover from what they did to him. He sounds like the very definition of a gentle young man. When people say Graham Linehan goes ‘too far’, this should make them reconsider.

Added to my watch later list.

This is horrendous - poor guy. I have every sympathy for him.

I just can’t get my head around this at all… it is appalling. What has happened to the western world? We are bumping off our elderly and torturing and sterilising our young. It’s like a dystopian novel.
