If you're in the mood for a long read, a deep dive into our old friends at IGLYO, taking the scenic route through the Denton's document, self-ID in Ireland, the ever-expanding acronym, Professor Butler, government-funded NGOs and more.

Enjoy!

Publicly-funded NGOs are riding the coattails of a movement that no longer exists

Only part way through but had to come back to say this is really, really good - thank you for the link!

Adopting an acronym and gradually admitting a limited number of specific fixed sexual identities is extremely contra-queer: it’s using the master’s tools (protected categories) to dismantle the master’s house (the very concept of categories).
It is also anathema to the original sexual liberationist hope of sexual freedom for everyone. The post-1960s expectation was that all sexual preferences would eventually be allowed to be freely expressed, but the acronym actually just represents a slowly-expanding list of the individual identities that ended up being deemed okay for general public consumption.

I like this

That is an astonishingly good piece. 👏👏👏

It’s okay, but it’s really preaching to the converted. I’d love to see more writing about the Denton’s document along the lines of “The Witch Trials of JK Rowling” - something that explains what happened in a politically agnostic way that draws in a broad audience, not just an anti-woke one.

BlueLegume · 18/09/2025 08:35

Really good read and listen. I have pondered this for some time though, if I had such a strong belief in what I was promoting, as in gender ideology then I would welcome naysayers to my conference so I could put forward my reasons - referring to Róisín* *being accused of using hate speech and asked to leave the conference.

Surely if your audience is also so confident they are on the right side of the GI belief let in the TERFs and debate well as to why the TERF’s have it wrong. It really saddened me hearing just how ‘unwell’ the attendees at the conference seemed. It resonated that perhaps these kids have been so exposed to the internet that the idea of entering adulthood is frightening. Another good listen here http://seeninjournalism.substack.com

What a brilliant article. Sharp, witty and intensely acute.

Though concerning at how deeply embedded this shit is becoming in the structures of EU funding and governance.

Some of my fave lines.......

"Some women, it turns out, are not performances at all, but real women who somehow got trapped inside a male body"

" Gender vendors"

" Intense cognitive self deception and a need for constant external validation"

" Middle aged knickermen"

" Biology is phantasm invented by people to kill your vibe"

"An anti scrutiny forcefield"

I think it does more than that. It reveals, and names, the actual mechanisms and structures that have been infitrated and created in order to further propagate and impose this damaging shit.

Yes. Most of us who’ve been following this topic for 10 years know this, and have no problem with some of the language and positioning. I am thinking of appealing to a wider audience.

I wasn't aware of the precise structures within the machinery of the EU, were you?

I found it educative and an excellent resource for future use.

It never fails to bother me that a movement hailed as liberating a marginalised group is never too far away from men excusing paedophilia as "intergenerational sex".

I don't like to appeal to motivated reasoning because I'd rather take on an argument on its merits, but you really can't ignore that Michel Foucault's philosophy is very convenient for degenerate old perverts.

I am blown away by this, but also finding it deeply depressing. This stuff is so embedded, so obfuscated, so dishonest that I'm not sure how we find our way out of it.

Meanwhile I'm sure the scheming about greater acceptance of dubious + identities is in full swing.

i used to think that Foucault's writing was dense and over-wordy in an attempt to make him seem super clever.

In reality it was just to hide his desire to make paedophilia acceptable.
