WTH is with all these 5 year old threads?

A thread? post? I would love to have revived is the 'cutted up pears' one - I used to see the phrase used and hadn't a clue what it meant, so I searched and found it, in the 'MN Classics', where it richly deserves to be:

It dates from 2011 so the 3yo is now a teenager

Most of us don't look beyond page 1 of FWR (because we are checking for new or current threads) so the thread revivers would have to search for the zombie threads they post in - they wouldn't just have "come across" them.

Not necessarily - the 'similar threads' section throws up lots of ones with related titles.

At this point I wish HQ would make similar threads switched off the default and a poster can choose to switch on the option.

The similar threads thing drives me mad so mine is switched off

Click the little head and shoulders figure at the top right of the page

Select settings

Then click more settings

Then click talk settings

Then scroll down to the similar threads option and switch it off

I did! Couldn't have told you when / how I did it though! 🤣

Probably the same week as when they started the sodding feature and informed us we could switch it off when people whinged about it!

I think that's how I came to switch it off anyway!

Now if they could just turn off the 'swiping to a different thread' feature, that would be lovely!

Those settings are very handy, you can also set set the order threads are listed to Newest first.

Lots of bees in bonnets here. It might be better to just ignore it given that there isn't a ban on old threads, just a convention but tbh I'm not as terminally online like you guys so maybe this means more to you.

What a silly answer. When lots of old threads are being bumped it's usually by someone spamming - which is against most forums T&Cs for a reason.

Can someone please reboot a Tunnocks tea cake thread- with everything that has been going on with FWS / Sandy P etc the consumption has been immense ?
