WTH is with all these 5 year old threads?

As the title says.

OP posts:
TempestTost · 15/09/2025 15:22

So is it wanting to avoid public links between the assassins and furries, or the left, or something?

It's not like violence on the left is a new thing but then many people think it is because they don't know anything about 20th century history.

Or is it more they don't want people to find out that Charlie Kirk was advocating for political discourse on controversial issues?

RayonSunrise · 15/09/2025 15:27

The Kirk threads have drawn a lot of “new” personalities, alright. As well as the obvious ploppers and derailers, we’ve had a lot of quite excited culture warriors in to whip up some good U.K. feminist rage against antifa/trans/leftists etc.

I feel like two propaganda groups are fighting over what narrative British women are going to take from this horrendous event. And it’s not enough that we take a Jo Cox “that’s beyond the pale and should never happen again,” stance, they either want us to hate who they hate or to protect their “side” from scrutiny.

I don’t think it’s about CK - there was a poster a few weeks ago (before the shooting) - AliasGracesomenumber - who was doing exactly what Joy is doing, and responded in precisely the same way if anyone called him/her out: “I promise I won’t do it again.” Same bot-like, faux-naive interaction style too.

It feels like someone just wanting to throw a spanner in the works, not like something targeted. Could be wrong.

Maybe - AliasGrace was around a long time ago but possibly a copy account with a differernt number attached.

I'm sorry about that. If I come across an interesting point I often think it's still worth addressing on the off chance the person wants to reply. But I understand it should not clog the boards, I promise not to do it again.

And then proceeded to do it again. Tedious.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 15/09/2025 15:41

One of the published disruptor techniques for online communities is to keep creating a slow steady stream of new accounts, interacting a bit and start or post on hot button threads but without doing anything to get banned or be an obvious troll, then leave them to go quiet.

These accounts and threads can be revived when convenient to distract attention with more credibility than a new username.

SionnachRuadh · 15/09/2025 15:47

I treat FWR threads as conversations. And because they often move quickly, I rarely look past the front page.

I think most of us don't bother looking past the front page. So we might miss a topic that's pushed off the page. So that's one thing.

The other thing is, I understand the thread doesn't go away and can still be read, but if you see it as a conversation, it would feel a bit off IRL if someone buttonholed you and said "I heard a recording of a conversation you had 2 years ago, I'd like to ask you some questions about it."

It's looks like the same poster to me. Both say they're 19 and posting style is identical

Westcoastcemetery · 15/09/2025 16:21

Whatcha tryna hide, Joyo?

RayonSunrise · 15/09/2025 16:44

And what about the guy who’s been continuing to fluff the idea that there were trans messages on the CK bullets? That was recanted days ago. There were antifa-type messages, but we’ve had people working hard for days to make a direct link to GC concerns and the CK shooting.

I’ve said it before, but I hate feeling like people are here to recuit the silly mummies who just need our chains yanked so we fall into step with them. Makes my skin crawl.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/09/2025 16:47

Which guy? I haven’t seen any guy “fluffing” that message, but there were plenty of people authoritatively declaring that it had been confirmed that he was far right.

outofdate · 15/09/2025 17:10

Well it certainly shows how important this site is and how we are living in TRA heads. A compliment of sorts.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/09/2025 17:10

According to MNHQ Joy has been banned

I have made the suggestion about not allowing anyone to revive a thread except the OP on site stuff threads over the years. I still think it's a good idea but as far as I recall, the people who disagreed with me said they wanted to be able to ask the OP for updates, or allow OPs to update under a different account or username (and which I accept is more likely to happen if it's years later). I think the zombie thread message is intended as a compromise but clearly it only works if people respect the conventions of the forum.

I do think that posters should heed @SionnachRuadh and lurk for some time before commenting, just to get a feel for the house rules and style. Every forum has them, not just MN.

A quick improvement would be for the 'heads up - zombie thread' notice to be shown to others when replying and not just the first person re-animating it, iyswim.... or iirc someone had the idea of having some kind of colour system for the age of the first post! so all current/recent threads would be one colour and new threads would slowly shift to another as time went on.

Much as I like this idea I think the subtleties would be lost!

He’s on the “trans partner” thread. Currently attacking anyone who doesn’t adore American gun laws. He’s not even the only one - there are a lot new people who are very keen to force team GCs.

AliasGrace'some number' [I can't remember it either] is an established, very thoughtful poster on this board for quite a while now, yes she has been unDeading Dead Threads👻recently but I don't believe there's a nefarious purpose, I reckon she's just been looking back over old debates.

I'm not sure that reviving old threads is enough to keep us away from what we want to discuss on here - we won't wheesht, y'knowWink

Yes, he stands out because of the influx of rather aggressive new visitors we've had from the other side.

MarieDeGournay · 15/09/2025 17:32

I don't quite understand what the ploy of unDeading Dead Threads is supposed to achieve, but so far [speaking as someone who was suckered into reacting to a post which dated from 2019....after I had read this thread🙄] all it has served to do is to remind us of how far ahead of the curve we were with our critique of gender ideology - if only they had listened to us in 2019!Grin

PrimSec · 15/09/2025 17:33

Would banning new posters from reviving threads go a long way towards stopping most of the issues? Didn’t they use that concept already in the Sex forum? Ie you couldn’t post there until you’d been a member for a while.

Wouldn’t help in the case of malicious posters having nurtured an old username specifically for that purpose, but they could then hopefully be banned for that offense and couldn’t just resurrect a new one. Would stop the newbies doing it inadvertently too.

I remember that reply, although not the thread it was on, but when I read it my smarm meter started humming. Call me a grumpy old women but I though t it was far to servile to be genuine, I thought it was a sociopathy's reply myself. So someone's up to something. 🤔

Ok thanks I see him now, he hadn’t long been on the thread when you posted that. Has he been on other ones?

I've had a few of exchanges of opinion with AliasGrace47 in the past. I believe she is a genuine poster, I don't think she's a sociopath, but in fairness I'm not always the best judge of people, even in real life😁

edited to add that I get the impression that AG47 tends to write posts quickly, and - sorry AG47 if I'm doing you an injustice - posts them without much editing.
So you might have got smarm-vibes when she just posted a very quick apology.
Or she's a total sociopath who has me completely fooled😄

Yes the board has been manic for the past few days. It’s like we’re the focus of two groups, one wanting to attack/disrupt and the other wanting to aggressively force team.

Personally I’d like to make them sit in a room together to carry out whatever strategies they think they’re employing on each other so we can get back to our grassroots efforts to restore sex realism to Britain. (Which we were doing quite well just as a bipartisan group of women, actually…)

WandaSiri · 15/09/2025 17:53

Most of us don't look beyond page 1 of FWR (because we are checking for new or current threads) so the thread revivers would have to search for the zombie threads they post in - they wouldn't just have "come across" them.

Another thing I noticed in the past about usernames is that disruptive/derailing new posters often choose a name very similar to someone who is already posting on the thread. Like instead of WandaSiri, they might call themselves WandForSir. I've always felt that was too much of a coincidence not to be deliberate - an attempt to sow confusion, perhaps?
