Transwomen - The Axis of Awesome

CosyJadeEagle · 09/09/2025 19:26

It's an old video, but I recently came across an Australian band called the Axis of Awesome and started watching their videos; they are hilarious, witty, very talented, and very clever.

I just learned that their lead singer transitioned to female and the band wrote a song about it, which is what I'd like to present here:

I'm curious what other MNetters think about this situation, song, and the comedy they employ around her transition.

Now I know that MN has a small, noisy contingent of people who have a rather... ahem... refreshing view when it comes to respecting and accepting other people, so if you are one such it might be better not to post in this thread; I'm interested in serious, thoughtful responses only. Thank you 😊

'I just learned...'

Oh aye... I believe you. Millions wouldn't.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/09/2025 19:56

Well - having thought long and hard about it, @CosyJadeEagle, I believe that human beings cannot change sex. No amount of surgery, medication or hormones will change a man into a woman, or vice versa.

Again, after a lot of deep thought, I have come to the conclusion that women and girls (those born female) deserve to keep their single sex spaces - changing rooms, toilets, prison cells, sports, scholarships.

Trans people should campaign for their own spaces, sports, scholarships etc, rather than invading ours.

Mate, I knew of Jayne County when he was still Wayne. We don't button up at the back you know.

ohfook · 09/09/2025 19:58

I’m really not sure I understand the point of your post, it’s a funny ten year old video by a trio who were good at combining music and comedy.

Being gender critical and having a sense of humour or appreciating music aren’t mutually exclusive and I don’t think we’re so behind the times that something a decade old will suddenly make us view the whole situation differently.

It’s also interesting how you ask for serious, thoughtful responses only. I may have misinterpreted that but it seems to imply that only the views similar to yours are serious and thoughtful?

Are you looking simply for people to agree with you? You’re on the wrong site, if so. Over here we think for ourselves.

Dominoodles · 09/09/2025 19:59

Was there a genuine point behind posting this aside from the drive by scolding?

Dragonasaurus · 09/09/2025 19:59

That’s actually hilarious - though I’m assuming that the ‘transwoman’ is part of the parody, cos Jordan doesn’t seriously think he looks anything like a woman???
Not sure how they’re getting away with it in Oz tho!

Can't say that I've seen much evidence of baldphobia on this board

I do love a rhetorical question😁

Oh but a good drive by scolding can give such a smugly satisfying sense of superiority over all the thickos who aren’t quite as educated.

life of brian loretta GIF

If you want something funny we could travel back to 1979, Life of Brian, now that was funny. Who knew Loretta was so ahead of her time

Mate, I knew of Jayne County when he was still Wayne. We don't button up at the back you know.

I used to run the bar at one of Jayne's regular venues. He was always jolly good value, both onstage & knocking them back at the subsequent aftershow lock in. Likeable chap.

PermanentTemporary · 09/09/2025 20:05

I am looking forward to a future where men who transition, and women who transition, are accepted as people who remain exactly the same men and women they were before transition, and that none of us need to think about it at all because for everyone apart from them, nothing has changed.

Incidentally, if you’re interested in performers who have transitioned, but you would also like them to have fabulous voices and frankly more interesting subject matter, there’s Adèle Anderson of Fascinating Aida.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/09/2025 20:06

We do have a “refreshing view” here in comparison to the rest of the internet where everyone feels obliged to pretend they think men are women, thanks OP!

soupycustard · 09/09/2025 20:08

Yep. He's bald. And still a man. So I guess we're in agreement OP that physical changes like hairdos or clothes make no difference to how someone should be viewed. Quite rightly.

GenderRealistBloke · 09/09/2025 20:09

You post a lighthearted comedy video but only want “serious, thoughtful responses”. Must be fun in your world.

My serious response: seems fine to me. Wear what you like. He seems happy. I’m not offended but see why people who aren’t me might be. Same as the Minstrel shows. Not offended, see why others might very much be. You?

ZenNudist · 09/09/2025 20:17

I loved the three chord song by axis of awesome. Very clever and entertaining.

This bald one not so much because it doesn't make any sense the questions asked are not relevant to a balding man. Also my bald mates mainly feel like they should still have hair but are forced to be bald. Maybe they should all get wigs and we can all acknowledge that they truly have hair and it isn't fake.

The singer looked the same pretty much since the previous video. Bit more lippy and a dress. Meh as long as they are still funny. I'd still listen to the 3 chord song any day.

NeverOneBiscuit · 09/09/2025 20:18

No idea what the point of your thread is, apart from the goady parts.

My thoughts on the video? “Oh, & Jordan’s a woman now.” He’s not. He’s still the same male band member just dressed ‘as’ a woman & appropriating the name for the opposite sex.

🥱🥱

The "rather... ahem... refreshing view when it comes to respecting and accepting other people" group of people have an issue with the destruction of women's rights and the medicalisation and mutilation of children. I don't give a fuck how people dress and who they think they are as long as they don't destroy female private spaces or encourage children to chop off heathy body parts.
