It’s certainly come a long way from when he was harrangued on Newnight by Sarah Smith.

I’ve just read the write up on the BBC news website - reasonably even handed! They even say trans identified males, not trans women - blimey!

IwantToRetire · 09/09/2025 01:18

Thanks for the link.

And on one level not much different from articles that have appeared elsewhere.

But of course the difference is that this is the BBC. I wonder if their rainbow special reporter was consulted!

Was also glad to read earlier today that the bail conditions of not being able to post on X have been liftedd.

But must admit I looked at today's tweets and thought not sure what this is about. Maybe a bit US focused. But if that is where Glinnerr is going to make his life, fair enough.

Yes front page on the website last night (and this morning) too. Impressive!

Good news. Could this be the BBC starting to edge cautiously away from the trans dogma?

musicalfrog · 09/09/2025 08:00

Here is a link (via TwiX) of the actual interview.

Poor Graham, I think the stress it's causing him is plain to see.

Well they HAVE to provide balance.

with the various new bits of statutory guidance coming out, as well as various legal cases, plus what’s happening in the nhs, they’re going to HAVE to start to reflect that more.

Cue 18 drag queen stories in the next couple of days to make up for it

deadpan · 09/09/2025 08:19

I quite like Lucy Manning, she's reported other untouchable things in the past and does it in a calm way. It did sound as though Tarquin was referred to as a "trans activist" and not trans. So because he was also referred to as "she" it makes GL's action sound worse.
I think the subject has been outlawed from higher up, not necessarily the very top, and they reported this for two reasons. 1 is that some in the beeb think his arrest shows toxicity from the GC side, so to them it proves their point, and 2 they couldn't ignore it this time because it's been such a big story it would look too deliberate if they didn't cover it.
I support Graham's intentions but not always his methods. But I can appreciate he's been at this for a very long time and has had some awful treatment from Tra's.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2025 08:47

on another thread (which has moved on), someone didn’t like that when Graham said he’d been persistently harassed by the same small group of men (not an exact quote), the interviewer said ‘who would call themselves transwomen’. But actually this was good - even before GLs response that they’re men though - because it made clear which subset of men has been hounding him.

Yes agreed it's irritating @deadpan however can't expect a full 180 overnight! This is the BBC after all.

Indeed, they could have even edited that last response out but they didn't.

What’s drag got to do with Trans?

HostaCentral · 09/09/2025 12:38

Has anyone from the TRA side ever ended up arrested or in court for incitement to violence or harassment or abuse?? Plenty of examples on X, Instagram, and in the streets with placards.

No connection whatever between blokes in womanface and trans identified men, obviously.

Does anyone know the context of slapping the phone in the clip from the interview? Haven't seen that before.

Well, yes, everyone who has been following the case he came back to the U.K. for does. There’s a series of threads starting with the arrest but then continued into covering the trial so far. There’s articles in most of the mainstream newspapers and bbc website. Here’s one linked from the interview article.

Linehan tells court trans activists made his life 'hell' https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpw152kq80wo

sorry, realised that probably sounded snippy but there’s a lot of coverage - long story short the context is the phone belongs to one of the transactivists who persistently harasses Glinner and various gc women.

Edited

Thanks, in future I'll make sure I diligently research everything myself before attempting to cheerfully join in a discussion about something I'm interested in but don't know every last detail of. Lesson learned.

Ah, the apology with the "but" in the middle, yes I did spot that. Many thanks.
