Homeless lady in Northern Ireland thanking her lucky stars for a single sex home for the homeless. I say lucky, obviously she isn't that lucky, but she feels safer and that's a plus in her life. I hope things go onwards and upwards for her.

Wow, I had to make sure I wasn't dreaming when I read that! The tide is definitely turning, and it's great - and a bit of a miracle! - that Charmaine is getting the support that she needs as a woman, and I wish her all the best in the future.

I've always been a supporter of the Simon Community, but I'll be extra-extra-supportive now, thanks to their valuing women's wellbeing over ideology.

Simon is quite 'regionalised' so I hope this commitment to women-only spaces isn't just in Simon NI.

And I'm not going to question how they are defining 'women', I'm hoping that pragmatically on a day-to-day basis it feels like a welcoming safe space for the women who need it.

I saw this news story but didn't post because I have double checked all information and nowhere does the Simon Community define what they think a woman is.

On paper it sounds exactly what biological women should be offered.

But in practice there is no certainty that biolgoical women will be the only users.

And given how NI is not directly impacted by the Supreme Court ruling, and the reluctance of authorities in NI to accept the need for women's services based on biology was not reassured by this announcement.

Does anyone know the Simon Communities position on whether TWAW?
