Lammy may not like it, but the law is clear: unisex spaces risk being discriminatory against women, and men must stay out of women's spaces.

Oh good grief.

Labour Party: "This news means the Party will now need to hold a Deputy Leadership Election."

So is Lammy's appointment interim?

SionnachRuadh · 05/09/2025 17:54

DPM is kind of a nothing job. I'm a bit more concerned about him getting the justice portfolio, but I don't think he'll have the latitude to do anything daft like unisex prisons.

We've also got the prospect of Shabana Mahmood having a full and frank exchange of views with the cops, which should be fun.

PronounssheRa · 05/09/2025 18:00

Oh for fucks sake

SionnachRuadh · 05/09/2025 18:03

I quite like Shabbers. She's one of Labour's few standout performers, and she says "fuck" more than Glinner.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/09/2025 19:19

Yes, I like her too.

I've got my rights ready, I've been hoarding them for the last few years.

Yes, so far Shabana Mahmood and Wes Streeting are, for me, showing the potential way forward for a more pragmatic Labour parry.

Ooooh, I can break out this username again!
I am particularly excited because I have had some successes and some failures this year, on the growth front.
Me and DH are novice gardeners and we have tried so hard to get it all right. But we failed spectacularly with a Pawlonia Tomentosa in spring. So we tried again with a tree Ceonothus. Both seem to have died. Maybe it's the location. I don't know. I have had some success with Ivy Leafed Toadflax, which I have wanted for years, to spread throughout our dry stone walls - fingers crossed for me please!!! But now, with this glorious news, we have ordered - from Farmer Gracy, no less - a male human cervix growing kit - for DH - to try, all on his own. Any supportive messages throughout this period will be gratefully received.

Well, er, if that's a qualification...

Did you use rooting powder?

BratOuttaHell · 05/09/2025 20:17

Fucking Lammy. I liked him in his younger years. Great MP for Tottenham and good to see a young black man rising up the ranks. Then he had to go and fuck it all with his misogynist BS.

Shabana Mahmood I have a lot of time for,

(Also like Streeting. He’s got better and better)

SionnachRuadh · 05/09/2025 20:21

Lammy is capable of being thoughtful and intelligent. The trick is to get him to bother his arse doing it.

I wanted to be rightshoardingdinosaur but someone else took it. Annoying as I dont think they use it.

Mahmood is reported to have said it was "Unacceptable' to question Supreme Court gender ruling"

Took a dislike to Lammy when he was protesting about a primary school closure because he used to go there! The school was failed by OFSTED, and he should of been fighting to get a decent education for all those failed students, whose education had been marred by poor teaching and management. It was Devonshire Hill in Tottenham I belive.

If that’s the quality of his education…it shows.

Ivy Leafed Toadflax will grow readily from any crevice, self seeds happily, and doesn't seem to root into anything, so if some of it looks a bit scraggy you can just pick it up and compost it. It's one of the very few things I grow successfully!

Good luck with the cervix as well, but I don't think that's so straightforward...

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 05/09/2025 21:45

Dug up the name when I heard the call.

It may take a while for me to be fully recalled to battle duty as it’s tricky for me to lumber myself anywhere. Being one of the larger and less nimble dinosaurs.

But I shall be there. Rights hoarding outsourced to a dragon in a secure cave vault for now. Battle armour needs a bit of maintenance so would be grateful for pointers to helpful You Tube videos.

🦕 “Respect, Rights, and Reclamation” — Interpretive Dance Routine

🎭 Scene One: The Jurassic Rights Roundabout

  • Setting: A circular stage, dimly lit, with a spotlight on a central figure resembling David Lammy—suited, static, blinking in confusion.
  • Enter the Dinosaurs: Women in inflatable dinosaur costumes stomp rhythmically around him. Their movements are exaggerated—tail swishes, clawed hands clutching large cardboard pieces labeled “RIGHTS” in bold, glittery lettering.
  • Scuttlers and Brandishers:
  • Some dancers scuttle low to the ground, gathering “rights” cards in frantic, protective motions, clutching them to their chests like sacred relics.
  • Others rise tall, brandishing their cards in front of Lammy with sharp, angular gestures—like protest placards in motion.
  • Music: A mix of tribal drums and distorted parliamentary soundbites, echoing phrases like “hoarding dinosaurs” and “men can grow cervixes”.

🌱 Scene Two: The Cervix Garden Struggle

  • Enter the Pots: Women in lab coats and gardening gloves carry terracotta pots labeled “CERVIX”, each containing a surreal, fleshy-looking bloom—part anatomical, part botanical.
  • Men in Baby Doll Dresses: A chorus of male dancers in matching pastel dresses attempt to wrestle the pots away. Their movements are clumsy, exaggerated, almost slapstick—arms flailing, feet tangling.
  • Tension Builds: The women resist with graceful, grounded choreography—spins, lunges, and protective cradling of the pots. The men’s attempts grow increasingly absurd, culminating in one dancer trying to “plant” a cervix in his own pot, which promptly wilts.

💜 Scene Three: The Reveal and Reclamation

  • Costume Shedding: The dinosaur dancers unzip and step out of their inflatable suits. Beneath, they wear elegant, everyday clothing in suffragette colours—green, white, and purple.
  • Formation Shift: They form a V-shape around Lammy, who now looks visibly smaller, almost shrinking under the weight of their unified presence.
  • Final Gesture:
  • Each woman holds a “rights” card aloft.
  • One dancer steps forward, places her card gently at Lammy’s feet, and says (spoken word): “We are not hoarding. We are holding. We are not extinct. We are alive.”
  • Another adds: “And no matter how hard you try, you cannot grow what you do not have.”

🎬 Conclusion: Lights Fade, Message Lingers

  • The music softens into a choral hum

—echoes of “Respect. Rights. Reality.”

  • The dancers exit slowly, leaving Lammy alone on stage, surrounded by rights cards and wilted cervix pots.
  • A final projection appears behind him:

“We aren’t dinosaurs. We are women. And we’re not going anywhere.”

The rehearsals are going well.
