Isabella Cêpa faced 25 years in prison for misgendering. Now after victory in the Supreme Court she has advanced women's rights in Brazil dramatically. Her statement:

Brazil’s Supreme Court officially closed my case, marking a groundbreaking precedent.

This isn’t just about me. It’s the first time in Brazil that a radical feminist voice was formally targeted through criminal prosecution, and failed.

What started as an attempt to silence a woman for speaking truth to power has now become a legal turning point.

The Supreme Court’s decision to archive the case sends a resounding message: coercion, criminalization of feminist thought, and punitive actions against women exercising their freedom of expression are legally inappropriate and must not stand.

This ruling is a milestone in Brazilian history. It affirms that from this day forward, women cannot be threatened or silenced for daring to speak the obvious. What was once weaponized against feminist voices now serves as a precedent safeguarding them.

A historic day for women’s freedom in Brazil and a powerful statement to the world: feminist expression is not a crime!

EXCLUSIVE: Brazilian Woman Granted Refugee Status in Europe After Facing 25-Year Sentence for ‘Misgendering’ Trans Politician - Reduxx

In a precedent-setting move, a European country has officially granted full refugee protections to a Brazilian women’s rights activist who was facing 25 years in prison in her home country for misgendering a transgender politician. Isabella Cêpa is the...

This is fantastic news thank you for sharing!

I'm still gobsmacked that in the worst case scenario she could have faced 25 years in prison for correctly sexing a man, the idea is straight out of a dystopian nightmare.

Poor Isabella Cêpa, she must have been so confused and scared when she found out she was being charged with "social racism" - Wtf!.

Hounded out of her own country for pointing out the big dress wearing elephant in the room 😡

25 years in prison?

This is utter insanity

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2025 07:42

Thats good news. Appalling that she should have had to face such an ordeal for calling a man a man.
It doesn’t sound as though she’s got any sort of apology for the way she’s been persecuted, or redress.

But in addition to setting this precedent in Brazil, she also set a precedent by being granted refugee status.

Maybe the tide is turning across Europe?

The cult was always going to lose when it started to affect more people. It's easy to agree to "be kind" and consider the vulnerable, until you see it's a dupe, just a MRA movement.
A man retains his maleness under any label he creates and is always living as a man.

The wheels are stating to fall off. Stuff like the neo nazi cross dresser using laws etc.

The medical scandal as well. With public health care getting cover for unneeded procedures which makes things worse is a huge legal issue. Plus of course it is a gift to the right wing.

The left/centre don't think biology is a thing is the worst electoral platform in history.

It will take years, but it can't last.

The federal court in São Paulo had closed the case against Cêpa; Hilton then appealed to the supreme court to re-open it, and now they've refused to. Not sure what the implications are with regard to setting a legal precedent - at any rate the decision must surely help to deter abuse of the anti-racism law to persecute feminists for the time being.

Cêpa's not planning to rush home though: she says the case might still be re-opened somehow, and the federal police are investigating her for something else.
