As another man who once worked with me declares himself saddened by my beliefs on gender and sex, I thought it might be useful to compile a list for handy reference. Which of the following do you imagine makes actors and directors who aren’t involved with the HBO reboot of Harry Potter so miserable?

Is it my belief that women and girls should have their own public changing rooms and bathrooms?

That women should retain female-only rape crisis centres?

That men don’t belong in women’s sport?

That female prisoners shouldn’t be incarcerated with violent men and male sex offenders?

That women should remain a protected class in law, because they have sex-specific needs and issues?

That language should reflect reality rather than ideological jargon, especially in a medical context?

That women shouldn’t be harassed, persecuted or fired for refusing to pretend humans can change sex?

That women should not be threatened with violence and rape when they assert their rights?

That freedom of speech and belief are essential to a pluralistic democratic society?

That troubled minors, especially those who are gay, autistic and trauma-experienced, should be given mental health support instead of irreversible surgeries and drug treatments on non-existent evidence of benefit?

That gay people shouldn’t be pressured to include the opposite sex in their dating pools, nor should they be smeared as ‘genital fetishists’ when they don’t?

That cross-dressing heterosexual male fetishists aren’t actually oppressed, but having the time of their lives piggybacking off gender identity ideology?

That said ideology, and the privileged, blinkered fools pushing it because they suffer zero consequences themselves, have done more damage to the political left’s credibility than Trump and Farage could have achieved in a century?

Let me have your thoughts.

This sums up the views of the majority of posters on this board, however, we often have other posters tell us they don’t agree with us, but never what views they don’t actually agree with.

So, those of you that don’t agree with the majority view on here, what is it about the above that you don’t agree with?

it’s basic biology. Did you skip that lesson at school?

TBF I don't think they teach that in Australia anymore.

Hang on!!

Do we play the game back?

Where are the statistics just for the attacks on male people with transgender identities from male people while in the male single sex toilet?

The prior questions on this were "ignored"

We some how jumped from men are harming men in mens toilets so women must use mixed sex services to Ooooh LOOK OVER THERE crime stats prove men (and is mainly men) commit crimes.

We got the snide I'll do "your work of supplying my proof" by (not) providing evidence to back up my claim

Chris Columbus now?

Well I bet he's loving the lukewarm reception to the Thursday Murder Club, and adaptation that should have been an absolute walk in the park.

I'm so annoyed on her behalf. Nothing she says is controversial.

It's a shame there aren't classier people in the business and those that appreciate what her work has done for their careers.

"Who committed these hate crimes? Was it women who don't believe that people can change sex or was it men?
I know the answer to that without seeing any statistics or surveys. Perpetrators of these crimes are almost all male. Why don't you pop over to a male dominated forum (lots to choose from) and tell them to be more kind and accepting to trans people?"

Um, the context of this conversation started upthread when a commenter wanted proof trans people were in physical danger from men necessitating they use the women's bathrooms.

Try & keep up.

Men being violent to men is not a reason to force women into mixed sex spaces whìch have violent men.

Men need to find solutions that do not involve women.

Oh god. READ THE THREAD BEFORE COMMENTING. The context was the necessity of trans people using the women's loos hence the provision of offence data. Try & keep up.

And yet no data has been supplied to prove that men should be allowed to use womens single sex services.

All the data proves is that in the UK there is a need for womens single sex services.

Helleofabore · 02/09/2025 10:21

Regarding the % of male prisoners in UK with transgender identities. The figures that are in Hansard for the year ending 31 March 2024 had the figure that 151 of the 243 male prisoners in the UK prisons had at least one sex offence on their record.

The ratio changed from 43.3% (88/203) having at least one sex offence to their name at 31 March 2023 to 151/243 to 62.1% as at 31 March 2024.

The increase of the overall number of male prisoners with transgender identities in the UK prisons between 2023 and 2024 was only 42 yet the increase in the sex offenders was 63.

In 2019, there were 3.3% of female people in UK prisons were sex offenders. I haven’t looked up the stats since. But I wouldn’t expect this will be different. Last time I looked at the raw stats for female sex offences, they had remained stable numbers for a decade or more despite population growth.

For male people with transgender identities to have the same rate of committing sex offences, there would be 8 (3.3% of 243) prisoners with trans identities in the UK prison population with sex offences.

Not 151.

And if someone tries to suggest that the majority of these male prisoners have declared that they are women to gain access to the female prisons, I doubt this is true.

Considering the sex crime numbers for that prison population jumped from 88 to 151 male prisoners with a sex offence that declared they were women in a year (31 March 2024 to 31 March 2024) AFTER the publishing of the guidance in early February 2023, I seriously doubt these new prisoners are making declarations for the benefit of getting into the female prison.

"But there doesn't seem to be any data at all about trans identifying men coming to harm in men's toilets."

There doesn't need to be all there needs to be is trans people at greater risk of violence from men. Use logic!

We have used logic.

Men who are at risk from violence need to work on how to stop men from being violent.

Womens services are provided for women not for men therefore making services mixed sex has no benefit for women. Therefore womens single sex spaces need to remain single sex spaces for women.

Keeptoiletssafe · 02/09/2025 10:26

It is difficult for @Howseitgoin as we are demonstrating the references given prove that their argument is not only wrong but harmful.

I'm actually really enjoying it. Love cosy crime. Love Celia Imrie and Helen Mirren, am a complete sucker for the glossy style of Home Alone and the early HP's.

Yes, it's hilarious because he is confusing Australia with the UK. In the UK, saying 'toilet' is considered vulgar, which is why they say loo instead. But in Australia, toilet is the number one term used. We never ever, ever, ever call it 'bathroom'. Ever. That is a yank term. He is a fraud.

As I am a northerner, as well as a Sydneysider, I wasn’t sure if it was true of SA or WA.

But again, I don' even really know what point is being made but this poster.

A toilet that anyone can choose to use regardless of sex is a mixed sex toilet, so the arguments made about trans people are moot.

It's as though the posts are being sent from the late 90's, when it was assumed that trans = transsexual or the early 2000's before concepts like self ID and gender fluidity.

AnSolas · 02/09/2025 10:40

Howseitgoin · 02/09/2025 09:13

I have read the thread. You have provided precisely zero relevant data to support trans identifying men using women's toilets.
There are more recorded crimes committed by trans identifying men against women and girls in women's toilets than there are crimes committed by men against trans identifying men in men's toilets.

I DON'T HAVE TO. All I have to do is show trans people are at higher risk of violence around men who happen to be committing most of the violence against them according to the data.

And there's no evidence women are at risk from trans people.

You do have to provide proof that men are at risk from men. You kind of did that.

You then have to prove how removing womens single sex services are an improvement in womens services. You are failing to provide any evidence of this improvement.

In fact the data you supplied proves that women should keep their single sex services.

AnSolas · 02/09/2025 10:43

Howseitgoin · 02/09/2025 09:15

There has never been any report that a transwoman was attacked in male facilities. The only reports have been transwomen attacking females in female facilities. In fact, transwomen themselves have said they are completely safe in male facilities, and the worst they get is a smirk.

That's because you can't or won't read the links provided.

Dont provide links just copy and paste.
Can you manage that much to prove a single attack in a UK toilet?

Namelessnelly · 02/09/2025 10:44

I think @Howseitgoin has taken our good advice and gone for a nap.

NotBadConsidering · 02/09/2025 10:45

All of this nonsense about prisons is just distraction from the fact JKR is right, but the new resident TRA would rather not talk about it. Not a single offer of an answer to any of the questions she asked.

We bought two copies of The Hallmarked Man today, so we can read it at the same time. I can’t wait to start it and revel in the fact we’ve lined JKR’s pockets once again, a percentage of which we know will end up with a good cause because of her exceptional philanthropy. I will also revel in the fact that it will make TRAs proper mad.

'Toilet' is only considered vulgar in the Nancy Mitford sense of being lower middle class, like 'serviette', but I think that is a bit dated now.

However, the word 'toilet' is always used in signage.

DialSquare · 02/09/2025 10:46

I’m just stating my audiobook of The Hallmarked Man (whilst working!). Can’t wait to get stuck in!

I honestly don't know why they bother. We've seen all these ridiculous links before. But the fact remains they've lost the argument.

Men aren't allowed in the ladies.

And no amount of whining and one handed bullying of women will change it.

Really?
There's no evidence that letting the same men who keep threatening to rape and murder us for not believing that they are real women into our toilets and changing rooms puts us at risk of harm?

No risk.

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13178-018-0335-z

I could post how the nice bloke in prison (for wanting to stab his mother and raped her as she died) described in graphic detail ( in a court room in his defense ) of how he wanted to sexuall assault another woman but you would see that as not proof.

Oddy there would have been no need for the court case if the Irish State did not allow male rapists and other violent men into the womens prison system.

Ok. So, similar.

It is a little like the 'school / pool' accent debates. And the 'togs vs cossie' debates. I have heaps of friends from the different states, but I don't recall any of them particularly using 'bathroom' instead of toilet / loo / ladies / dunny.
