Sarah Brown Why are UK trans people upset?

In threads about the impact of the Supreme Court ruling it has been mentioned that the only people actually impacted by this, ie that sex in the act means biology, are those people who have gone through the process of getting a GRC. ie all those who go one about having an identity or whatever, the ruling makes no difference to as they aren't recognised by any law.

Why are UK trans people upset?

I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset. In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia. In 2005 I started medical transition. For the state to recognise this I had to submit to standards of “care” which were humili...

Because they aren't getting everything they demand and they don't think women should have rights to privacy and dignity.

DeeKitch · 31/08/2025 19:26

Does the person have the courts to have the live as a female promise revoked?

PronounssheRa · 31/08/2025 19:27

Is that sarah brown of 'suck my formaldehyde pickled balls' fame?

Thats a blast from the past. A very unpleasant individual if i recall correctly.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 31/08/2025 19:33

I actually have some sympathy with that.

Not that I think biological males are women or should be in women's spaces, but people like Sarah Brown have spent so long being told that if they jump through this hoop and that hoop they'll be a real woman at last, and it was all lies. Of course they never will be.

I guess that quote is an example of Sarah living as a woman "by the book"

Isn't it made clear in the GRA that there will be some exemptions.

Only regarding hereditary titles, I think.

Why are they upset? When are they NOT upset?!
Hurty.feelingz dominates all!!

I just feel sorry for Sylvia

Yeah but it's not been terribly clear what those exemptions are, other than the ones within the GRA itself.

See s9 which basically says a GRC will mean that you become the other sex for all legal purposes, except for when you don't 🤷‍♀️

Gender Recognition Act 2004

An Act to make provision for and in connection with change of gender.

DeanElderberry · 31/08/2025 19:43

If people are continually lied to and then the truth turns out to have been true all along, I can see them being pissed off. Even see them blaming the truth rather than blaming the liars. That's what makes me feel the Minnesota murderer, evil though his actions were, is also a victim of the genderist cult.

It's been a nice earner for selected medics and for the pharma industry, but appalling for human beings.

I am guessing it is not the one married to Gordon Brown

HermioneWeasley · 31/08/2025 19:56

I do not give a fuck

nobody gave a fuck about the impact of losing singles s3x spaces, services and sports on women. Nobody gave a fuck about sterilising and mutilating vulnerable children.

I give not one single solitary fuck if the people who have spent a decade stealing women’s rights are sad now they have to give them back. Not one.

I think this is really important.

It is high time the political class was called to account.

Even if some of them went along the "be kind" agenda, they should have known that what they were offering is a lie.

And no amount of saying it will only be a few dozen people makes it any better.

And yes I sympathise that some didn't see it as a trojan horse (and some of us didn't sadly) they are the ones who have to face up to the consequences of their actions.

This was always going to be the problem with creating a legal fiction that negatively impacted on other groups, and a legal fiction that had no basis in material reality.

Basically it relies on governments continuing to allow that legal fiction and allow a group in society to live as if they are a sex that they most certainly are not and are not in any way.

It is indeed.

Peregrina · 31/08/2025 20:18

Yes, that small handful of people with a GRC can rightly feel a bit pissed off, up to a point, but they were sold a lie, they knew they were sold a lie, but they hoped that they would get away with it. As far as men with a GRC did, they did get away with it. Then their other male chums, the other 85 - 97% or so, without the GRC and with zero intention of having their penises chopped off, decided to muscle in on the act.

So complain to Parliament for passing a duff law, in the Gender Recognition Act; complain to your trans activist brothers, but don't complain to the rest of us, because we are sick and tired of this nonsense.

That rubbish in the Lib Dem article is why I have resigned my membership. My monthly dues have gone instead towards Sex Matters.

TwelvePercent · 31/08/2025 20:19

I don't disagree that it was a monumental fuck up by the gov to agree to put procedures in place to deny material reality.

PronounssheRa · 31/08/2025 20:39

If this is the same Sarah Brown, then while a councillor in Cambridge they worked to undermine womens rights under the EA.

https://womansplaceuk.org/2018/10/31/cambridge-council-equality-act/

Brown knew even back then the the single sex exemption was a thing. So cry me a river but I really don't care if Brown is upset.

The actions of Brown and people like Brown chipping away at womens rights over the years, directly contributed to the environment which led to FWS going to court.

Cambridge Council and the Equality Act - Woman's Place UK

Violence against women and sex discrimination still exist. Women need reserved places, separate spaces and distinct services.

That isn't what the article is about.

The wider trojan horse movement led by Stonewall and, yet again, politicians caused that.

What the article is about is that there about about 10,000 people who the politicians didn't think through what they were doing.

This is going to have to sorted out.

Because one think you can be sure of is that this again will be a Trojan horse.

Those left in limbo with the GRCs will then be used by the wider rainbow movement to say anyone with a temporary identity or whatever should be catered for.

Which, to summarise the SC, boils down to "the acquisition of a GRC changes your sex for all purposes unless it actually matters".

Which is edging closer and closer to 'a bit of paper doesn't change your sex, because sex can't change'.

I always think of the position of the young women suckered into this first, because of people I know. Some of them have done such damage to themselves. Facing up to reality fifteen years in must be hard.

This. SB was instrumental at Stonewall & Lib Dem, is trustee at Kite Trust who pedal this to our schools & throughout organisations, and in poly relationship which got a fawning write up in guardian.

So it's likely that Sarah Brown was in on the fact that stonewall misrepresented the law and is now calling for sympathy.
I have every sympathy for the vulnerable people mis sold this lie, and the kids being told they'll be a different sex and it'll sort out all their woes. I have no time for anyone going into this with their eyes wide open and plowing on, eroding rights for girls and women.
