Seriously?! Someone needs sacking.

In defiance if supreme court.

HMRC lets trans staff in women’s toilets ‘in defiance of Supreme Court’
Gender-critical campaigners attack tax authority’s ‘unlawful’ guidance to employees

Archive link, hopefully works.

I can think of a few tax laws that people would like to act of defiance of.

What’s good for the goose and all that!

hawheresthebmareviewnow · 23/08/2025 22:43

Can I change my tax status then if we don’t need to follow the laws. I feel I am a non tax payer stuck in a tax payers body!

moto748e · 23/08/2025 22:44

The front of these people! Why can't they just obey the bloody law?

because saying no to narcissists is really hard

It's not really.

Just let them have a tantrum.

nocoolnamesleft · 23/08/2025 22:53

So, can I identify as a married couple, split my pay between my two identities, and pay a lot less tax?

IwantToRetire · 23/08/2025 22:54

We comply fully with all existing statutory guidance.

ie we are ignoring the Interim Guidance published by the EHRC shortly after the judgement.

Are they thinking the new "statutory" guidance will somehow be much difference.

Or is this just the sulky child syndrome, saying shant and wont, and dragging their feet to slow everyone down.

Pathetic.

moto748e · 23/08/2025 22:56

Well it's not the first time we've seen this toddler behaviour, is it? It'll all come out in the wash.

RumNotRun · 23/08/2025 22:59

Welsh Gov are doing the same and claim to be waiting for further clarification or whatever that ridiculous line is that companies keep spouting. Idiots.

Timefortea4 · 24/08/2025 06:59

Is anyone aware of any government departments that have changed their staff policies since the Supreme Court judgement? They all seem to be waiting for the guidance despite the law being clear.

FlumpOftheFlumps · 24/08/2025 08:05

They refuse to change it until the EHRC issues the new guidance. The existing guidance lets trans identified men enter women’s spaces. HR are shit scared of the trans lobby and their toxic representatives in HMRC Prism and A:gender.

A woman in my office complained to the building manager about a male in a dress in the women’s lavatories. He had previously been seen using the gender neutral facilities and she felt it was deliberate to provoke a reaction.

The building manager was asked to issue building wide guidance. He refused. Consulted with HR and she was told to use the gender neutral toilets herself if she didn’t like men in the women’s!

HMRC staff are continually bombarded with Pride events which aren’t about Lesbians and Gay men but all about trans, trans, trans.

I have sat through official training and been told about sex being a spectrum, cloud fish and letting children be their authentic selves. I attended a training event about trans euphoria where trans staff were promoting hormones and breast binders to vulnerable staff.

It’s a toxic mess.

Brainworm · 24/08/2025 08:57

Duty bearers must follow the law and the law has been clarified by the SC.

There is some merit in the argument that the interim guidance is not statutory. However, if they are going down that route, the SC ruling is what they need to abide by, not statutory guidance.

This reminds me of a teenager wanting to have the last word in an argument.

The majority of those pushing against the return to single sex provision will soon move on to a new cause that makes them feel good about themselves. One can only hope that this will be a cause where ‘progress’ doesn’t involve harm to others.

Every bit of the civil service seems to need a lot of sunlight.

They genuinely never considered they might lose FWS, did they.

They really don't want to follow the Law, nor stop men doing whatever they want do they.

Edited

I identify as having reached the age when I no longer have to pay NI and can claim a state pension.

Do I just need to fill in a form?

HappyFrappy · 24/08/2025 16:58

Looking at this example though, it's on an intranet page about helping someone who is transitioning. It doesn't say how long the page has been up there, but we all know govt departments have all been captured by this stuff for years.

Most departments' intranets are full of loads and loads of internal policies and pages - I am not convinced that the existence of this page proves anything about HMRC's current thoughts on the matter, it will almost certainly be a pre-SC hearing page. I would definitely like them to amend everything accordingly now the judgement has happened, but I won't hold my breath.

FlumpOftheFlumps · 24/08/2025 19:42

A FOI request made by an HMRC employee and picked up by the Telegraph confirmed that is the current position. HMRC HR have confirmed that they will not change and provide up to date guidance until AFTER the EHRC has updated theirs, so the old guidance applies.

I can tell you for an absolute fact that HMRC is refusing to do anything about men accessing female toilets despite the fact that all modern offices have specific male, female and gender neutral facilities available.
