I‘m starting to get excited.
Are there plans for a MN meetup?

Just to confirm in the discussion part of the FiLiA app is the following chat titled:

’Mumsnet FWR lurkers & posters meet-up’

I have also posted and hopefully someone else will too so I’m not the first and last!

I don’t know the venue (or Brighton) for that matter but I assume it’ll be easy to coordinate when we’re there 🤞

WOW
just WOW
The council and businesses of Brighton might be clicking
what side their bread is buttered on !!!

lanadelgrey · 09/10/2025 19:11

Have posted in the app.
It was a joy to see my town full of feminists today, and more to come tomorrow.
Walked down to do some prep in the sunshine and arrived as the banner was being readied to be hung on the front.
There are cafes and bars in the venue, it is a brutalist behemoth and v easy to get lost in. But it will be fun!!

Oh now this is a true joy to behold! Looking forward to seeing this at the station tomorrow!

Will the population of Brighton go into a collective fit of pique at the sight of so much hatred and bigotry 🤭?!

I’ve got my card marked for that one too.

Do we have a signal?

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/10/2025 20:37

It’s been weird walking around. I’m wearing obvious suffragette things - signalling clearly but not OTT. I’m getting lots of looks. Women connecting looks, oh hi! , but also lots of obvious Turing away or blatantly “not seeing” me 😂 It’s not something I’ve really encountered before & maybe I’m being paranoid, but maybe not. Will be interesting to hear from others tomorrow.

FiliaDebutante · 09/10/2025 20:55

I can’t believe the bunting! Amazing!

Talkinpeace · 09/10/2025 21:02

So you'll miss out on dozens of other good sessions because you do not like one speaker
OK

A restaurant on Brighton seafront to the left of the Holiday Inn had purple, green and white bunting out tonight.

Ive replied to you on the app

lanadelgrey · 09/10/2025 22:29

Have worked out how you might spot me tomorrow. I‘m on registration. Hair col is obvs, I wear glasses and I have two wristbands - one on each wrist, rather than on same arm (cos I was busy chatting while registering today) . So if a Mumsnetter ends up on my desk say hello

Somebody has thrown a brick through a window at the Brighton Centre. Police are present and hopefully it will all get cleaned up by 9am

It's too early so doubt anyone was about other than maybe security

ParmaVioletTea · 10/10/2025 07:10

re Bea Campbell (she’s a feminist warrior, but obviously others think differently) I’ll come in here with my regular message to everyone:

The women’s movement is a broad, grassroots movement and there will be factions and disagreements.

Women are socialised to find conflict difficult. But we all need to understand that we’re all on the same big team ultimately - we all want to liberate women to live their best lives.

Oh, and smash the patriarchy before breakfast.

Purple cardigan with WRN badge today

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/10/2025 07:56

I’ve heard it’s multiple broken windows & lots of graffiti. Fucking hell.

But its “both sides”….

ParmaVioletTea · 10/10/2025 08:15

The TRAs are such children. And cowards.

It’s making me look forward to walking past the ragged pack that’s likely to “protest” about women gathering to talk about their rights, learn about the position of women across the world, and celebrate our culture.

I’ll be laughing at the pathetic losers who can’t make a decent argument and so throw bricks instead.

If your first thought when you hear the phrase “women’s rights” is to call it “transphobia “ then you’re a bigot.

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/10/2025 08:34

Brighton is one of the few places where I would feel scared to walk around alone wearing anything that marked me out as a feminist.

But of course that’s what these misogynist thugs are after.

PiningForTheMoon · 10/10/2025 08:37

I saw an article linked on the BBC news website that there are plans to protest at the venue.
