I‘m starting to get excited.
Are there plans for a MN meetup?

I went to a women’s liberation in education conference in 2023/4 (can’t recall) and it was bloody brilliant to be among so many interesting, clever women from all walks of life. I went alone and was ‘adopted’ for the day by a lesbian couple in their seventies who thought I looked lonely and fed me biscuits while we raged at each other about gender ideology in schools and tutted at the (small( group of (really quite silly) young men outside chanting ‘I would rather be a Nazi than a terf’.

I was at that conference. It was ACE!

And I think that's where the convicted & violent criminal "Sarah" Baker incited violence against feminists. There was some threatened & actual violence meted out on attendees around UCL, iirc.

I went to Cardiff and stayed on my own and walked to the conference alone and went to the party alone
and loved EVERY minute of it.
NOBODY is alone on an all female dance floor :-)

You might want to read the rules of the Conference Centre, before taking your flag. Just saying ...

If the pole telescopes down into a proper sized bag then it should be fine.

Lots of ladies will be carrying banners for the Saturday afternoon after all.

Not sure about the wisdom of a v big flag. I was down near the venue this evening. Almost got blown over. Worth checking the forecast. Am looking forward to checking in lots of wonderful women at the registration desk

Why not start a thread in the Discussion bit of the app to set up a MN meet up?

Is it realistic to set up a thread saying meet-up for MNetters only? It also isn't terribly active, lots of unanswered meet-up requests. I'd be worried about tumbleweed, at least I'm anonymous here but I'd have my big embarrassed face on show to all if nobody replied!

The app is not good. I have to access it through a browser !

Go to the bottom of the "home" page and there is a button at the bottom that says "View all discussions". This takes you to the "discussions" part and you can see existing threads and comments & join in

Could anyone tell me how to see the timings for Friday? I’m thinking of buying a last minute ticket but that’s the only day I can do and I can’t stay late. I’d like to know how much of it I’d be able to attend before committing to the ticket price. Would I be able to see details if I get the app (if so, what’s it called?) or is it only available after ticket purchase? I understand they need to keep it safe from protestors but £55 is a lot to spend blind.

I went to that women’s lib in education conference too - at Uni of London? I flipping loved it! So nice to be in a space where I could feel uninhibited in what I was saying.

Just loved being surrounded by so many diverse women and feeling like I had found my tribe as well.

My DH has also told the DC that “mum is off to some TERF conference” 😬

Will be there on my tod on Sunday as well so will check out the Mumsnet meet up app also

I think you need to buy a ticket to get access to the app.

The main sessions run from 09:00 to 17:30 on Friday then there are a few events going on in the evening (poetry, music, a film)
