Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
worstofbothworlds · 23/08/2025 08:33

Good. I'm a GC academic who's on BSky. I've witnessed a dreadful pile on of another GC scientist and I have no idea if anyone got suspended or not.

PestoHoliday · 23/08/2025 08:36

Great hat!

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 23/08/2025 08:46

Bluesky reining in the Unhinged, what a laugh, everything written in the linked article shows how dis-associated from reality some people have become. 🤯

Bluesky should be renamed PieInTheSky. 😂

Worse hat ever. 😮

EsmeWeatherwaxHatpin · 23/08/2025 08:47

Good. “Split her skull” is violence. I’m sure there wouldn’t have been suspensions for disagreement. But violent sentiment is another thing and actionable.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/08/2025 08:51

i hope there are loud tantrums all over social media. Waaah we don’t have a safe space to wish death on women! #LetThemSpeak

DabOfPistachio · 23/08/2025 09:13

So this person quote tweets someone who says they want to split JKR's skull saying they also wish her ill, get suspended for it and then complain that they've lost a 'safe space'
Safe space for what? Safely make violent threats without being suspended? They're unhinged.

ArabellaScott · 23/08/2025 09:15

Oh, he's back. Bluesky have relented and presumably think its fine for Gretchen Felken-whatsit to talk about splitting womens' skulls. Because the great violent creep says he's 'trans'.

ArabellaScott · 23/08/2025 09:17

To be clearer - Bluesky suspended GFM for a period of time, but there were lots of complaints that violent threats should be fine to wish on women if women are really horribly vocal about men and male violence. So Bluesky caved and reinstated them, because as we know Bluesky is a Good, Kind, and Pure place for the Right Thinking.

Igmum · 23/08/2025 09:23

It’s incitement to violence. Doesn’t matter if it was JKR or the woman on the Clapham Omnibus no social media site should tolerate it for a second. The fact that he thinks it’s acceptable because it’s about someone he disagrees with says a lot about him as a person.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 23/08/2025 09:23

And to be clear -- I wish upon JK Rowling everything she wishes upon trans people

this bit was sweet….but only because they have no idea what JKR actually thinks

ArabellaScott · 23/08/2025 09:30

And the comments on that Advocate article on bluesky provide handy examples of just how kind and full of love trans activists are:

'I don't wish her ill, I worse her far, far worse than that. Absolutely disgusting and unredeemable.'

'Still wish absolute ill on JKR'

'I wish I'll upon JK Rowling. I wish she experiences all the pain she has inflicted upon trans folks.'

'May black mold consume her amen'

'J. K. Rowling is a world class cunt.'

'Fuck JK Rowling for being a disgusting terf. '

'may she rot and perish in whatever slum can match the yawning, barren void of her rotting, charred heart'

'I wish ill on that mouldy old crone.'

'Personally I think it would be very unfortunate for JK Rowling to catch treatment resistant gonorrhoea.'

'I hope Rowling keeps herself safe.'

'Remember kids, its always morally correct to take a shit in front of her home when in Edinburgh, Scotland'

'hey bluesky, i don't just mildly criticise jk rowling, i want this piece of shit beaten up'

Datun · 23/08/2025 09:36

Yes, surely it's incitement to violence.

It's a fucking joke when women actually get arrested for using the word castration and hanging ribbons in a tree.

I'd be right behind J. K. Rowling if she decided to sue them. There seems to be some kind of current viewpoint that you can wish violence on any woman you like, purely on the basis that you don't like her and nor does your mate.

“we took action because the user stated that they wanted to ‘split the skull’ of another person, who they named. This violates our policy of explicit death threats.”

Quote in that article from a trans activist:

“They ignore power dynamics and context. A trans person saying they wish a powerful, wealthy anti-trans bigot ill is an expression of anger and frustration from someone without power,” said Earl, “If Rowling said the exact same thing about me, it would carry an entirely different weight—leading to harassment and real harm to me directly.”

So, men who say they are trans should be perfectly free to send a woman death threats, because said men identify as having 'no power'.

Haha I didn’t even see they were indeed whining about “safe spaces” when I made my comment. Beyond parody.

The ‘power dynamic’ of a male saying (or agreeing) he wishes to split a woman’s skull is that her skull would be easier for him to split than vv. Do they really not know this or simply not care?

(and of course jkr has wished trans people no ill at all, let alone making violent threats)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/08/2025 09:55

It’s just deliberate narc trolling/gaslighting. They get a kick out of it.

ArabellaScott · 23/08/2025 10:17

A good display of vulnerable narcissism.

'I'm so powerless and she made me sad, so I was forced to harm her"

There was that one man who said that men who identify as women can't possibly be accused of rape, even if they have sex with a woman against her consent, 'because of the power dynamic'.

Deluded and bloody dangerous.

The entire ideology reeks of misogyny.

I think most would be aware that her skull would be easier to split than his. Makes me think of Jane Fae’s grim tweet about why the effects of men’s violence towards women was mostly women’s fault

Bluesky suspending over JKR hate
ArabellaScott · 23/08/2025 13:05

A sickening comment. Imagine being so blithe and also fundamentally misunderstanding the whole dynamic of dv.

Spookygoose · 23/08/2025 17:11

I’ll never understand why pro-trans people 1. Think it’s ok (cos many of them are perfectly normal law-abiding citizens) and 2. Are allowed by many services/organisations/providers to incite violence, openly threaten death and horrific violence against people who don’t agree with them when there has not been a single instance, to my knowledge, of an anti-trans group threatening harm against them. It just makes them look like unhinged psychopaths and undermines their whole argument

BeLemonNow · 23/08/2025 17:26

I agree it's incitement to violence, especially in the context that there's actually various cases of TrAs attacking TERFs. Cases can be hard to prosecute.

BeLemonNow · 23/08/2025 17:33

If anyone was wondering, what does Judith Butler think? (Probably not but I've read and highlighted bits). Here we are...

"Of course, Stock and J. K. Rowling both are rightly appalled by the online bullying they have received, and I will not condone that kind of behavior, no matter who does it. We surely need a better conversation. But one reason that better conversation is difficult to have is that TERFs are denying the existence of people who have had quite a hard time gaining social recognition, legal protection from discrimination, and adequate and affirming health care. Neither Stock nor Rowling would agree that they are denying anyone’s existence, but that is because they believe they possess the only language that yields reality, and anyone who disagrees is deluded. In this way, they once again concur with right-wing discourse on trans life. Imagine if you were Jewish and someone tells you that you are not.".Judith Butler - "Who's afraid of gender?".

ArabellaScott · 23/08/2025 17:40

Language doesn't 'yield reality', you dafty.
