Amazing thread. Verdict: definitely not a hypocrite. Totally reasonable. Carry on as usual.

"I've now got this uncomfortable feeling that I might have sounded like one of those middle-aged pearl clutching GC 'feminists'. It's bothering me a bit."

No dude, nothing to worry about there. You don't sound like a feminist at all. You sound like a bog standard old perv looking forward to making a female nurse look at your cock.

unwashedanddazed · 22/08/2025 12:52

They said they'd be happy for a trans man to be present, thus confirming they don't think they are men.

zanahoria · 22/08/2025 12:54

Well there is a certain consistency about the way he treats women, always expecting them to be subservient and uncomplaining

CassOle · 22/08/2025 12:58

So, sex does matter then - despite all the wailing that we are awful bigots for saying that... duh duh dar... sex matters.

MyAmpleSheep · 22/08/2025 13:01

From the OP on that thread:

I would be very happy for a trans man or trans woman to be involved...

So a "trans woman" isn't a man either.

I'm afraid I can't bear to wade through the whole reddit thread but I'd like to know how they feel about one of the staff members being a transwoman.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 22/08/2025 13:04

The poster later confirms a trans woman would be fine as well. So no, I don't think he's being a hypocrit. His views are consistent even if I don't share them.

The hypocritics are the trans people and allies who demand society treats trans people as the opposite sex in all things but reserve for themselves the right to consider them their original sex when they want to (usually dating, procreation and so on.)

HarpQuartet · 22/08/2025 13:04

If I'm understanding it correctly, this patient would be happy to be seen by any medical practitioner, even a male one, as long as that male practitioner says he identifies as a woman. It therefore feels like a non-issue.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 22/08/2025 13:06

I guess the inconsistency is that he would feel comfortable with a trans man.

Practically I see why, but logically it is inconsistent.

FeralWoman · 22/08/2025 13:22

The OP on that thread has detected a TERF downvoting everyone.

Cis supremacist: there’s a new term. Someone who specifically requests a biological woman and not a trans woman.

FaithHopeCarnage · 22/08/2025 13:24

As is being comfortable with someone non binary. I mean, how would they know (answer: because they won’t be able to wait to tell you)? What even is non binary? How can one be a negative? So many questions, telling me I need to get outside into the sunshine. That subreddit often leaves me feeling like that…

illinivich · 22/08/2025 13:25

But he was happy to specify he want a female HCP, and didnt get upset that he couldnt ask for woman or a trans identifying man.

He was happy to use sex as the criteria, when the point of TRA is that sex is so confusing we couldnt possibly know whats in peoples pants and it doesnt matter anyway.

The hypocrisy is that he didn't really care at that point if TWAW as long he was treated by a woman. Suddenly gender went out of the window and someone elses sex was important.

To be a true TRA the posts should have been that he was mad that he was forced to just ask for women and exclude his fellow trans identifying men.

outofdate · 22/08/2025 13:35

I would far rather be treated by a man, than a man pretending to be a woman.

That is such a massive self-own, but he and the other transes on that thread don't seem to have realised 😆

outofdate · 22/08/2025 13:47

The whole thread is a total own goal

Not just one terf I suspect

All the male staff should identify as female if they work in very areas.

Problem solved, no one can complain or have the right to complain.

😐

Oh noes.

The gender purists don't like him seeing sex and admitting it, but rather than think it could be that, it's definitely the evil all seeing all knowing witchy TERFs who are akin to the boogie woman for trans women.

According to that way of thinking, what would someone who requests a biological woman but not a biological man be called? Would it be different if they didn't accept a trans man?

I seem to recall reading (way back) a blog about a girl whose gender was variable and she wore a bracelet that she somehow switched up to let her friends know her current pronouns. Sounds like this patient's doctor needs to wear one of those, flip it to she/her and it'll all be fine!

FatCyclist · 23/08/2025 16:54

What an extraordinary thread. They all say it’s perfectly fine to want female staff because it’s only natural to be uncomfortable with male staff for such intimate/personal procedures. But when actual women say THE EXACT SAME THING we get accused of genociding trans ppl. Do these ppl have absolutely zero capacity for even the slightest ability to see how ridiculous this is?

GallantKumquat · 24/08/2025 04:02

This typifies the issue - an overwhelming desire to exclude men from their own single sex spaces and services - bordering on fanaticism - and a total unwillingness to see that desire as legitimate in other women as applied to themselves. It's thermonuclear-level narcissism. To this day it's hard for me to believe such introspective blindness can exist in real life.

Perfectly put!
