Figured it was my turn for once!

Plus this way I beat the rush to the bar.

Now I must return to the previous thread to relocate my Tunnock's secret stash.

Serve yourselves until the bar gerbils arrive.

Ah good old Dairy Milk thanks @Boiledbeetle totally reassured!

Britinme · 28/08/2025 03:23

<Creeps back in cautiously > Is it safe yet? Reality went kerfluey.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2025 06:40

Totally normal (though today has begun a bit sooner than I’d have liked).
Brews brewing
BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew
can’t get more normal than that.

Bowednotbroken · 28/08/2025 08:30

Great to see someone else knows Douglas and the Blue Cat - my sister and I loved it as children, and my kids have been indoctrinated too. We’ve been known to quote the Blue Voice (‘I’m blue, I’m beautiful, I’m best), sing ‘we go, we go, we go’ and if anyone ever mentions the word factory… ☺️

DeanElderberry · 28/08/2025 09:20

Giant wombat would like reassurance that 'living creatures' includes (at least some, or one) dead creatures. Remember the time when all she could do was lurk in a back bedroom and weep. So much better for all of us now she's able to enjoy herself.

Isn’t the Terry Pratchett phrase ‘differently alive’?

So ‘living creatures’ would, presumably, include those creatures who are ‘differently living.’

yes indeed.
Do we also have any anthropomorphic personifications on our premises? I expect there’s one or two minor deities who’d fit in well.

Thank you whoever put a blanket over me. Is the Bluestocking back to relatively normal? <smells toast> Thank heavens!

Am I too late for a bacon butty, bar gerbil? No!? Fab! Some brown sauce, on the side, and mushrooms. Just regular non-magical mushrooms. Pot of darjeeling too please. I'll be by the window overlooking the watermeadow. Could you ask one of the squirrels to bring me a book? Pratchett? Perfect.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2025 11:23

It’s never too late, nor too early, for a bacon butty.
(unless you’re a veggie/vegan … thoughts and prayers🙏. The mushrooms are very nice.)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/08/2025 12:00

I wonder - alongside its alcohol that doesn’t get you drunk, could the Bluestocking provide bread that doesn’t spike my blood sugar? If so, I would love a massive bacon and fried egg sandwich, please and thank you. And a vat of very strong coffee.

I love the shiny trainers, @Magpiecomplex - very you! I hadn’t thought about the reflective issues, but I do remember my dad telling me that his grandmother said ladies shouldn’t wear patent leather shoes because they might reflect their underwear.

@ErrolTheDragon - I suspect I am a very average wolef - and I do try not to be too evil.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2025 12:04

Well of course we have very very low GI bread - not just my DHs oatbran pitta but fluffy white, doorsteps, barms, regional bread product of choice.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/08/2025 12:09

Wonderful - thank you, @ErrolTheDragon! I really miss bread. And toast. 🙁

lcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2025 12:11

You're the most genius Wolef I'm aware of.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/08/2025 12:21

That is so kind of you, @lcakethereforeIam. 🥰

SionnachRuadh · 28/08/2025 12:26

Sausage soda with brown sauce please, and a cup of tea on the side.

Yesterday was an odd day. I haven't felt so disoriented since I saw that Judge Reinhold movie. No, not the one you're thinking of.

AsWithGlad · 28/08/2025 12:33

I second that remark! @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius , you are also the most charming and most erudite Wolef too.

A completely unrelated remark: my Dad always said I was his favourite daughter, which I always found comforting although I have only one sibling, my brother.

She's done so well manifesting her corporeal body I sometimes forget her back story.

Asked DH to polish the TV screen as I stare at it all day (it’s mostly off) and can see fingerprints - we turn it on Fridays so DSD can see the screen. He did a terrible job, so I was able to lean on the unit it stands on and redid it.

I'm bloody knackered! I think having several screws driven into my heel has tired me out more than I expected.

BeLemonNow · 28/08/2025 12:59

I don't believe patent shoes reflect that well. My mum claimed they were actually easier care / more scuff resistant than matt for school.

Mind you, coming from a long line of pragmatic feminists she also bought me a skort.

Nowadays if any pervert pays so much attention to my shoes they figure out the colour of my knickers, congratulations 👏 🎉.

BeLemonNow · 28/08/2025 13:00

I'd like a midday panini please. I'm a vegetarian who hates mushrooms.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/08/2025 13:16

Thank you, @AsWithGlad - I am so lucky to know all the amazing women of the Bluestocking!

Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one.

My heart-sink moment is reading on a menu.." vegetarian option, Mushroom Risotto".

Your wish is the gerbils’ command.
Even if people like mushrooms, I’m not sure anyone really wants them in panini. What would you like?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 28/08/2025 13:42

Coincidentally, right now IRL DH is making bacon butties (I did the part-baked bread, which would have MNers who make their own sourdough every day recoiling in horror, but I had other things to do).
