  1. Is it true that trans people are now banned from all single-sex spaces?
No. The new EHRC guidance does not impose a universal, across-the-board ban on trans people in all single-sex spaces.

and it goes on.

Goodness, utterly pathetic and dishonest catastrophising on steroids!

I'm not on FB and you have to log in to read it in full so I've been spared🙄
but the obvious response is that of course trans people are not banned from all single sex spaces, they are more than welcome to use the single sex space designated for their biological sex.

And many of them are saying that they acknowledge that they have not changed their biological sex, just their 'gender presentation', so they should have no problem knowing which single-sex spaces they are free to use.

I think that in a few circumstances - where the trans person looks enough like a member of the opposite sex to cause distress (e.g. a trans man (biological female) who has been at the hormones and thus has a beard/has bulked up) then they can also be stopped from using the facilities for their biological sex too.

But generally I agree - headlines which say "trans people are banned from single sex facilities" are at best misinformed and at worst clickbaity* because what they actually mean is that trans women are banned from women's single sex facilities and trans men are banned from men's single sex facilities.

*one might even say it's a nebulous dogwhistle Grin
