Sorry to paste and run but this has just arrived in the Times.

I note that ‘genital inspections’ and ‘femininity testing’ have already appeared in the comments - vastly outnumbered by positive reaction though.

DuesToTheDirt · 07/08/2025 20:45

Excellent! (Though slightly misleading, as trans women will be able to access single-sex MALE spaces).

They already are! If they are called single sex then they are single sex, even before the Supreme Court ruling using the SSE.

Maybe a misleading headline.

RedToothBrush · 07/08/2025 20:57

The EHRC are not going to ban anyone from anything.

They are going to uphold the existing law.

Cismyfatarse · 07/08/2025 23:22

Exactly. But good to see that they are not attempting to do anything other than follow the law. And the guidance coming out cuts off another bit of wriggle room. Hampstead ponds being used to illustrate it is particularly sweet.

I wonder if the guidance will have a further ‘release’ after sign off by Phillipson just to keep reinforcing to all those who wait that there is no need to wait for the official final release. As in ‘the interim release was good to go’ stop playing sillybuggers and just get on with protecting single sex provisions.

The EHRC was upfront about the fact that there was not going to be changes because they were following the law as it is.

Na they should just start enforcement notices. There will be plenty to ignore and will need to be dragged to court. Why waste time? Just get the fuck on with it.

In search of a like button….in the absence of one. This. Very much this.
