Nice article on female bonding

This is a lovely article showing the strong bonds between female gorillas. I thought it would be nice as there’s a lot of female bonding on here.

I know I normally go on about toilet research but I am a biologist too so this warmed my heart. This is really what I would rather study!

I'm a bit concerned about the 'tickling' in the main photo though - I do not like the expression on the face of the Tickler, I suspect there's some left over feelings about something the Ticklee did in the past being externalised!

I saw that article. We've all been there. Started something or somewhere new and the relief at seeing a familiar face. Although I probably wouldn't rush over and tickle them.

I was wondering that. I'm trying not to chalk it up to the usual bias of female achievements being overlooked or downplayed. The article does say they analysed decades of records so it's possibly just a very subtle trend and took a mass of data to become apparent.

Yes it’s because it’s a longitudinal study. You can only get the data to see patterns if you study it for so long and have the same parameters start to finish.
