NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #47

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence had been intended to be 28 July with 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing was to have ended on 30 July. However, it became apparent as the hearing progressed that this schedule wouldn't be followed. (Considerable understatement.)

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

It would seem the anon witness was motivated to phone regarding the letter SP never got explaining new i/x and new investigation.

They were all: let’s get KS to tell DU cos most compassionate but nobody gave a toss about telling SP.

They claim a letter was sent but SP says she never got it.

I think the witness called to give some context to mail re SP and to communicate general sense of fear.

Very different room and feel to back in Feb when we had Upton and support crew strutting in and filling it up. Atmosphere definitely different.

Yeah it really is awful. Jr has called Sandie Peggie "Miss Piggy", and Maya Forstater "Maya Forshatter" (a couple of times each IIRC).

It's nasty and uncalled for, I would expect it from children under 10, not professional lawyers of any age, and especially not while in session in either court or tribunal.
