All women welcome, pull up a pygmy hog, the bargerbil will serve you a drink, the flying squirrels will bring you something to read and the goats will do...I'm not entirely sure.

There may be more than the usual amount of chaos as we transition to the new thread.

I’ve just caught up. I had a notification on the Woolly Hugs thread so checked it out and have just caught up with the Blue Stocking. I posted this on Woolly Hugs and thought I’d copy it here to you too.

“Hi everyone,

I haven’t been on here much recently. We’re still waiting for the results from Bear’s post mortem and he hasn’t yet been cremated. However, he left the mortuary this week and is in the funeral parlour. I’ve had to go through some difficult things this week in relation to this.

I’ve just caught up with the thread.

Yet again, my words fail me. The squares are so clever, thoughtful and beautifully knitted. They are all wonderful, but some of them are simply amazing! It feels like Bear is in every single one. They feel like squares of love and a “woolly hug” is just exactly what this is, even before I have seen it in real life.

Two woolly hugs?
I am overwhelmed by this. I will hold this to myself like a happy secret for now so I can surprise Dr Swash with her blanket when it comes. It feels so nice to have this surprise to hold on to; it feels warm, and it’s lovely to notice a feeling of excitement again.

Thank you so much to all of you wonderful, wonderful women. I will never be able to express my thanks as much as I am feeling them inside.

Love,
Swash”

I am so touched by the squares by the Blue Stockingers (and in awe). Thank you so much.

I have been ❤️ some posts when I can catch up, to acknowledge them and show I’m still here, but appreciate these will only be seen by the poster.

@Swashbuckled, I'm very glad that little glints of light are starting to appear in your life.

But I so sorry that you are still having to wait for the funeral: such a huge thing to have looming on the horizon.

I think of you and Dr Swash often, and wish you well.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/07/2025 11:33

@Swashbuckled - I was so pleased when I read on the WH thread that we are able to make two blankets for you and Dr Swash. I sent four squares, so I'm hoping that there will be two in each blanket. I am in awe of the beautiful squares that other people have made, and there is love in every stitch.

It is so hard, waiting for the funeral to happen - you're in limbo - and I'm so sorry to hear that things are taking so long for you. I'm sending you the most massive hug I can manage.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/07/2025 12:25

@MarieDeGournay My favourite JJudy quote is, "What you're saying doesn't make sense to me. And when something doesn't make sense that's usually because IT. IS. NOT. TRUE!".

Chersfrozenface · 23/07/2025 12:44

@Swashbuckled what Woley said.

I sent some squares. There's love and sympathy for you and Dr Swash in them and in every other square in both Woolly Hugs.

MyrtleLion · 23/07/2025 12:58

I sent you a note with my squares, @Swashbuckled , and I'm sure others did too.

Wishing you and Dr Swash so much love and support at this horrible time ❤️

Britinme · 23/07/2025 14:40

This incompetent knitter did not send squares, but will send sympathy regardless, Swashy. Such a painful time to have to wait for a funeral.

MarieDeGournay · 23/07/2025 19:27

Dear Swash, as ever it was lovely to hear from you.

It is so difficult that you have had to wait so long to have the sad, difficult but significant ritual of the funeral.

I'm glad the woolly hugs are bringing you and Dr Swash some comfort. It's lovely to think that our thoughts for you have taken a form other than the virtual.
We would have swooped in en masse and done anything we could to support you in real life if we could have, so this is the next best thing.

You are always in our hearts, and we are always here for you Flowers💙Flowers

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/07/2025 19:38

Much love to our dear friend Swashy. I'm so glad you approve of the squares, & I hope the resulting blankets will be a comfort to you & Dr Swash.❤❤

You're on a difficult voyage, & you're being so courageous. May you find your way eventually to calmer waters & brighter skies.

Bannedontherun · 23/07/2025 21:03

Much love Swashy, glad the blankets give hope xx

AlexandraLeaving · 23/07/2025 22:00

So glad that the prospect of the blankets is bringing you hope in these dark times Swash. Sending you strength to get through the limbo, you and Dr Swash.

CautiousLurker01 · 23/07/2025 22:19

Am watching. Lurking. But still in Italia. Contemplating a permanent move, frankly. Will be back at the bar ordering a marmalade gin next week though, so please make sure you’ve stocked up!

lcakethereforeIam · 23/07/2025 23:51

Knitting my wee squares, seems such a small thing. A drop to put out a raging fire. But oceans are made from drops, in time. ❤️

I've just popped in to the Bluey to check up on things, since everyone is at the tribunal.

Marmalade gin is in stock (one bottle behind the bar, a case in the cellar), and most of the gerbils are lolling around with their feet up (those that are out of bed). Ginormous is eating her second breakfast (full Scottish, in honour of SP), Gosie is doing a spot of weeding outside in the fresh air, and Gillian and Geranium are getting stuck into playing Uno.

The ones with their feet up are regularly updating both Tribunal Tweets and the Scotsman's rolling feed, as well as the MN thread. There is a lot of 'Och, d'ye ken, hen?' and 'Aye, no' erse coverin' be enough now, ken...'

They looked at me blankly when I walked in, and said they weren't expecting anybody until close of play this afternoon.

MyrtleLion · 24/07/2025 13:16

That’s marvellous, Edith! Thank you!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/07/2025 14:53

I’m loving the gerbils’ Scottish accents!

Ds2 spent his recent visit to ds1 and family teaching their dd1, who is 3, to say ‘Dinnae ken’ when she doesn’t know the answer to something! 😂😂😂

MarieDeGournay · 24/07/2025 15:01

I think it's lovely that we can leave the gerbils to their own devices all day and they just settle down to do quiet, orderly things, what little sweeties they are.
We are lucky to have themSmile
During breaks in the trib Gelsomina and Capability Capybara have been going through the snag list and they reckon the Bluestocking is structurally AOK.
It's just awaiting the humans who are due in the post any day now, acc to Amazon, and they we can think of an opening ceremony with a couple of token humans.

EdithStourton · 24/07/2025 15:09

Lovely real-time action-shot, @MyrtleLion, thank you.

Look at the expression on Ginormous's face! Though Geranium does seem to have nicked my specs...

Magpiecomplex · 24/07/2025 18:16

I'm back! Do any of the gerbils have a good cure for jetlag?

ErrolTheDragon · 24/07/2025 18:30

Magpiecomplex · 24/07/2025 18:16

I'm back! Do any of the gerbils have a good cure for jetlag?

Yes, but don’t ask what’s in it.

Magpiecomplex · 24/07/2025 18:33

Sage advice, Errol.

Welcome back, Magpie, when can we hope to meet our new resident, the Prairie Dog?
Don't forget that the Bluestocking is a quarantine-free zoneSmile

Magpiecomplex · 24/07/2025 18:43

The prairie dog popped in near the end of the last thread - here's Pamela drinking some Pimm's.

Pamela and Colin aren't quite sure what to make of each other. Dog? Not dog?

That looks like a delicious cocktail, @Magpiecomplex. Just the sort of thing you need, to cure your jet lag - full of vitamin C.
