Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

The headline would lead most people to believe it is a man, and the comment that the said ex-MP was previously called Jamie I think is enough.

The BBC are wrong on a lot of things, but this one I think they have got right. Saying someone uses female pronouns and pointing out their birth name makes it clear enough they are a man.

I thought that apart from that first line the rest of the article seemed to be very determined not to use 'she/her' (apart from when quoting his solicitor). I wondered if the intro was actually written by someone else.

He got off ridiculously lightly for tormenting that poor woman. As per damned usual.

He blows up his wife’s life and harasses her after she starts a new relationship and the judge thinks it merits a fine and some 'training'. Not much in the way of justice.

Struggling with “the passing phase”

wonder when this phase will be completed, 🙄

Saying someone uses female pronouns

Whilst technically correct - we all use male and female pronouns - what they actually mean is he demands other people uphold his fantasy by using wrong pronouns to refer to him.

Especially when he tried to find out details of her new relationship, demanded £350k and threatened suicide. A community order and a restraining order hardly seem proportionate.

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 14/07/2025 17:23

OK fair enough.

I got rather annoyed by the use of "her" in the first paragraph.

This article gives a lot more detail about the case and it is shocking stuff:
