The purple nail was courtesy of a bad stub.

Yesterday I read about shops selling cigarettes which contain "human excrement, dead flies and asbestos".

Did you trip over a discarded partly-smoked one of these?

No, merely caught it on the bath when leaning over to put something on the shelf. Short person, corner bath, more gymnastics to that than you might imagine. HmmGrin

I'm not being at all negative about the nail polish talk, I'm just pointing out how Mysterons and Rainbow Collections and metallic orange vegan nail polish with particle pink and gold flip pearls sound esoteric to someone who only sees nail polish as usefully small quantities of unusual colours for model-making.

And yeah we didn't have it in 15th-16th century France, Magpie, though some of the more out-there girls used to dip their fingertips in pine sap and powdered charcoal...😄

Thanks for the heads-up about Allison! I've just lost ages reading the judge's decision, but it was worth it.

Well done & thanks to Allison, legal team & JKR.

Dead flies you say.

Let me tell you about the time I did some maintenance work at the factory where the Co-Op 99 tea is made...

Actually no, none of you will drink tea ever again if I do.

I got it, Glad, even if no one else has!

Love a bright nail polish - this is currently on my toes. Leighton Denny 11th hour I'm in the garden too much to bother with my hands except special occasions.

Bannedontherun · 04/07/2025 19:49

Back from Alisons thread. I would have been a bit tech if i were her given what was going on.

I do not do nail varnish or manicures or any of that sort of thing.

its a complete mystery to me.

Yep. A discarded end of a partly smoked cigarette containing nasty ingredients could be termed a bad stub...

Whimsy is having a bit of a moment, isn't it. My children say "He/she has no whimsy" with a sad little head shake.

Is it code for "sense of humour"?

Bannedontherun · 04/07/2025 21:11

Rain , rain oh please come hither,
my garden is about to wither.

My lawns all messed,
And my veg are stressed.

Oh rain, rain please come quick
before my salix is just a stick.

I top up my pond, and water my pots,
and water the beds and all my crops.

But its still to dry
and i want to cry

rain rain pleased be a storm
so my garden is back on form.

Yes, a quirky sense of humour, and interests, playfulness, charm, ...

I'd love to send the torrential rain that hasn't stopped all day your way. The furthest I have been outside the house today is the rubbish bin. I'm feeling really sorry for the bedraggled tourists in their rain ponchos.

I second that.
A bird cherry in my garden has just carked it. It was excess to requirements but it's still sad to see it there.

As another short person, I sympathise.

I'm the last to bed in this house, and in this weather we have most of the windows open until bedtime. I have to reach over the worktop and sink to close the kitchen windows, which are at the front of the house. If the window has been opened too far I'd risk more than my dignity and a poorly toe clambering over the worktop to get to the window. Luckily I can go outside and close the window from there, but then in the dark I have to negotiate the spiky plant that's planted in front of it.

Or I could remind the person who opened the window to close it earlier.

Do go ahead... DH and I don't drink tea, but we do always have some teabags in stock for (rare) visitors.

Does the factory make for other shops as well, or just the Coop? It might be a public service to tell us which to avoid.

I'd willing send some of our lovely dull grey weather with occasional bursts of rain over from Ireland to your garden, Banned. ⛅🌧

I thought that Deano would probably agree, then it occurred to me - I haven't noticed Deano around for a bit. All good at the Deanery, Deano?

Yes, thank you for mentioning the Alison Bailey thread - sorry, I've scrolled back but I can't see who to thank.

It's July now, so not long until the Sandie Peggie case resumes, on the 16th.
