Finally! He has to and I am glad that he actually did speak out. Of course he’s a little late to the party but better late than never!

BundleBoogie · 30/06/2025 08:23

It’s great that he said that but maybe he fails to realise that these activists in positions of power are going to take precisely zero notice of him.

They are too far gone, they have had several great opportunities to back out of this and get it right, yet many are doubling down.

A very quick glance on X (via thr CIPD link on another thread) reveals the absolute disaster going on in our police forces. NHS leaders are refusing to act even while being taken to court and many school trusts (in my experience) use lies and weaselly words to justify ignoring the government when they want to.

He needs to get tough on this and start ordering enforcement of the law. The question is, has he got it in him?

I am glad he has spoken but it is still a bit half hearted. It is typical Starmer, using words like “get on with it” to sound like a man of action but he really needs to spell out what 'it' means.

Very welcome development. Finally! I hope Starmer follows through.

ETA: He should understand that whatever his own or his party's views, big organisations cannot be seen to ignore the law.

Interesting headline compared to what he said directly.

Also interesting that it's universities claiming that the SC judgment is somehow unclear. You'd think academic institutions would be capable of understanding and following a clear judgment.

Yes. Leeds uni saying they will not act as there is no legal reason.

Is that a quote from your legal advisers then, Leeds? Or do you already have properly sex segregated facilities?

🙄

They're not, however, capable of admitting that they got things badly wrong previously, or of confronting the fractious agitators busy acting out their narcissistic rage responses all over UK campuses.

Orgs like that are surely risking a legal challenge?

EdithStourton · 30/06/2025 14:17

So he's got off the fence?
He must have quite a few splinters to extract from his arse...

TheOtherRaven · 30/06/2025 15:08

Mmn. Actions not words please. After years of 'some women have penises yes they do no they don't yes they do don't talk about it', the words have got a bit meaningless.
