It will have been the Mk2 Brave and Stunning penisy kind.

Not the boring old Mk1 cunty models; nowhere near as much cachet in those, darling.

Shame he deleted his Twitter account though, I'd like him to clarify whether he's:
A) A misogynist
B) A breathtakingly callous opportunist
C) Thick as fucking mince.

Or, I suppose, which combination of two or more of the above. Twunt.

Sadly he had deleted his account before I could see it too. He has asked a couple of questions about funding to a couple of witnesses in the committee as shown in the transcript, so nothing conclusive.

Good for him, no doubt prompted by the 1400 trans people and allies who turned up to mass lobby the MPs about trans rights being removed and the embarrassment that is the UK compared to our Western Euro neighbours.

Hopefully we can get more people for the next one. It's not like this situation will ever stop being a problem.

As he has completely misunderstood the issue, he is unlikely to do any good.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘this situation’, but women (regardless of identity) will always need rights because of their sex, and it will never be possible to change sex, so no, that won’t. change.

Me too 😁

I'm in a staunch labour seat and I can't stomach any of the other parties, so I've decided I will spoil my ballot if there isn't a big shift.

"Respect my sex if you want my X" popped up at the General Election counts apparently, so I think I will go with that to make a point.

AnSolas · 25/06/2025 22:37

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 25/06/2025 21:51

Ffs. He's my MP.

I was slightly wary about him, when I saw photos of him at pride. (which was a feeling I hated by the way, and made me even more angry about the force teaming of LGB and the T.) because he's gay, but had no history I could find of commenting on trans anything, so I hoped for the best and that he wasn't completely captured.

Unfortunately it's lib dem or Conservative here, and the Conservative candidate was fucking awful in every possible way, so no choice at all really.

Fucks sake. I hope he's woken up with a hangover and a dawning realisation of maybe he's got this wrong. Too much to hope for? Probably.

Or more likely realised that X has no Parliamentary privilege.

RedNine · 25/06/2025 22:41

Oh dear. What a very silly billy.

Tweeting at 00.54am.

Never a good idea even worse when your tweet is defamatory. And worse still when you are a solictor, currently serving as an MP and shadow attorney General.

The calibre of current MPs is just dire..

Surely the SRA ought to be reviewing his fitness to practise after that unprofessional tweet.

RNApolymerase · 25/06/2025 23:09

He's not my MP, but I think the Lib Dems made mine in the same factory as this guy. He was parachuted in from somewhere when it became clear that the seat was winnable from the incumbent Tory.

BunfightBetty · 25/06/2025 23:10

Fuck me, it's 2025, not 1825. The fact we still have these misogynistic wankers in positions of power is a fucking outrage. But goes to show how the patriarchy still holds sway - look at the foolish comment we've had on here. I hope they take this prick to the cleaners.

GallantKumquat · 26/06/2025 02:50

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 25/06/2025 22:21

So he's a gay man and he's accused 2 lesbians of having a 'fascists agenda' because they dared to have the definition of sex clarified by the SC.
So if the definition of sex means nothing to him, how can he call himself gay??? 🤯

It's shocking. The same for Stephen Fry. There's no excuse for someone who's a member of the community and taken on the role of promoting gay rights.

Part of it can be attributed to falling prey to the thick tissue of cross-referencing lies TAs' have woven. It's taken as a point of fact that LGA Alliance is a front organization, that its members are mostly heterosexuals, and that it's money comes from US right wing groups like conservative Christians and Musk. It's credulously accepted that TERF organizations like let Women Speak have deep ties to neo-NAZIS, and that GCs are calling for the removal of trans people from public life and are openly advocated for trans genocide. That trans people are being hatefully denied the use of public restrooms and excluded from gyms and from sports.

Of course all of us know that the only thing being requested of them is that they use those services and spaces set aside for their own sex, not the opposite sex. The brazenness of the misinformation and the hysteria in which its delivered, however, can shut down the critical faculties of people who aren't knowledgeable about the misinformation tactics deployed on the left.

GallantKumquat · 26/06/2025 03:08

As a postscript re: hysteria, it's a well known observation that severe mental illness, and autism are highly correlated with transgender identity - among the young perhaps more than 75% - that's in addition and independent of the severe psychological distress caused by the 'gender dysphoria' itself. When that degree of distraughtness is channeled in a public hearing it can be highly distressing to hearer, even if the facts of what's being presented are contradictory and seem disproportionate to the suffering your witnessing. Remembering that we're told never to invalidate another's perceived truth.

BeeSouriante · 25/06/2025 22:14

No trans 'rights' have ever been removed.

Damn right males removing the rights of the oppressed female sex will never stop being a problem. But feminists will never stop fighting you men and will never, ever, ever, ever give up until all our sex- based rights and spaces are returned.

It's good this vile, malignant ill-brought up little turd was forced to delete his account in shame. Hopefully the rest of the vile, malignant, ill-brought up misogynist chauvinist pigs will do the same.

WE ARE WOMEN HEAR US ROAR, IN NUMBERS TOO BIG TO IGNORE!. Women will never surrender, never stop. We will never, ever, ever stop. Until this war is won 100%.

zanahoria · 26/06/2025 07:40

The MP, who then deleted his X account, was heavily criticised for his use of the phrase "fascist agenda". The For Women Scotland group responded: "This has been archived and we will be consulting tomorrow on next steps. This is a disgusting allegation to make about a grassroots women's rights group who are the target of death threats. To complain that everything is 'black and white' and then call those who disagree with you 'fascist' would be entertaining of it were not so serious.

Bev Jackson, an author and co-founder of AllianceLGB, posted: "The @LibDems shadow attorney-general @BenMaguireNC appears to have realised that he had scurrilously defamed @ForWomenScot. He has deleted his account - in the hope of containment?

They should demand a full apology and a donation to a women's charity that has not been captured or sue for libel

Cornish MP deletes social media account after 'fascist' comment

The Liberal Democrat says he now regrets the comment made 'in the heat of the moment'. The X/Twitter row blew up after he criticised JK Rowling, who in turn mocked him

I think many ‘liberal’ men only understand equality law in terms of oppression. At sone point you stop the patriarchy/fascists/Trump and everyone is equal. On women’s rights, the only difference between them and a Conservative like Dominic Raab is that Raab thinks equality has already been achieved.

They are oblivious to the fact that women will never stop needing different rights to men.

The SC decision had an impact on single sex spaces, but primarily it confirmed that women are recognised as a distinct group in law. Men like Maguire don’t seem to have an instinctive understanding of why this is necessary, but more importantly, for the last 10 years they have been rewarded for their ignorance, so it is now deliberate.

The competition to be the most pathetic bloke to criticise JKR this week has hotted up. Stephen Fry kicked it off but then we had Billy Bragg and H from Steps butting in, now this MP that hitherto I had been unaware of accuses her of attention seeking. He also bemoans a toxic debate where everything is black and white then moans about fascists. He had already said that JKR deals in nothing but insults without bothering to counter the many points she write in her fine essay. He is coming across as a bigger hypocrite than Billy Bragg, more boorish than Stephen Fry and dumber than H from Steps.

nauticant · 26/06/2025 09:55

For Women Scotland:

Mr Maguire apparently told the Express he regretted the comment which was made in "the heat of the moment" and blamed the "toxic" debate.

We can confirm that his regret does not extend to offering us an apology.

Have you noticed that the people who blame the 'toxicity of the debate' if they overstep into libel are often the ones creating the toxicity in the first place?

Part of first year orientation for MPs like Maguire should be how not to blow up your career by stepping on trans landmines and particularly how to steer clear of JKR on social media.

I'm serious.

The comments on " Cornwall Live" are very telling....of how superficial most people's understanding is of the reality of the situation.

I forgot about Old Man George, he has been on Lorraine

Lorraine praised Boy George, saying: "What I love about you over the years is you've always stood up for people who sometimes don't have a voice for themselves. As we know, people in the trans-community, it's been very tough for them. And you've actually said, no, this isn't fair. You've been good like that, and you've always been good like that,"

Everyone who describes this debate as ‘toxic’ needs to provide examples of GC people being ‘toxic’. I’ve seen plenty of appalling behaviour from TRA’s, but never seen anything worse than slightly ill-judged from those defending women’s rights. Of course, we don’t need to, because logical argument, science and statistics support our argument, whereas toxicity is generally all they have (Bee makes my point quite nicely here by happily supporting quite the ‘nazi’ framing 🙄)
