Ben Mcguire Lib Dems Attorney General makes speech in parliament criticising JKR.

Isn't it wonderful that The Internet Never Forgets😁

Merrymouse · 25/06/2025 18:49

He very clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

His argument seems to be that women don’t need rights because trans people have poor mental health.

My voting intentions at next General Election:

LIB Dems

Hoardasurass · 25/06/2025 18:55

Wow he just kept digging and then went and deleted his account as if that's gonna help 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

FuzzyPuffling · 25/06/2025 19:44

I am very, very glad I moved away from North Cornwall.

BiologicalRobot · 25/06/2025 20:04

What an idiot. He really doesn't understand the problem at all, nor cares enough to find out 🙄

FayeRC · 25/06/2025 20:41

Ah yes another man who feels he can tell women what rights women can or cannot claim for themselves.

In the meantime, I'm continuing with my court case against a large public sector employer because of their trans staff policy. Crowdfunding needed now for work in June/July. Pls search for Faye Russell-Caldicott at Crowdjustice.com

FumingTRex · 25/06/2025 20:43

Can someone give a flavour for those not on twitter?

nauticant · 25/06/2025 21:13

McGuire's tweet can be seen here:

https://nitter.net/JournalismSEEN/status/1937751899052343364

A criticism of his position would be that you shouldn't libel a group because they've just won a landmark case in the Supreme Court.

FuzzyPuffling · 25/06/2025 21:16

He's very popular in the village I left. They're all entranced by him.
But any sort of diversity there is almost nil, and understanding of wider issues even less.

PronounssheRa · 25/06/2025 21:27

Tweeting at 00.54am.

Never a good idea even worse when your tweet is defamatory. And worse still when you are a solictor, currently serving as an MP and shadow attorney General.

The calibre of current MPs is just dire..

nauticant · 25/06/2025 21:37

I like best the screenshot of Maguire's tweet (not McGuire as I wrote above) that shows it had 9,345 views. Hard to argue that it was deleted before any real harm could be done.

RhymesWithOrange · 25/06/2025 21:43

He is not overburdened with critical thinking skills. Unfortunate for his constituents but as a junior MP in a minor political party he’s hardly worth attention.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 25/06/2025 21:51

Ffs. He's my MP.

I was slightly wary about him, when I saw photos of him at pride. (which was a feeling I hated by the way, and made me even more angry about the force teaming of LGB and the T.) because he's gay, but had no history I could find of commenting on trans anything, so I hoped for the best and that he wasn't completely captured.

Unfortunately it's lib dem or Conservative here, and the Conservative candidate was fucking awful in every possible way, so no choice at all really.

Fucks sake. I hope he's woken up with a hangover and a dawning realisation of maybe he's got this wrong. Too much to hope for? Probably.

DragonRunor · 25/06/2025 21:52

Minor MP he may be, but I hope he’s just about to get an almighty lesson from FWS and provide a valuable learning experience for other MP’s. Do not let him off the hook. Women were shut down for years with this kind of language, and it needs to be demonstrably stopped.

Pretty typical for current Lib Dem MPs though.

Why people think they’re a safe tactical vote is beyond me. They’re bloody dangerous.

JulesJules · 25/06/2025 22:01

What a muppet

MelOfTheRoses · 25/06/2025 22:01

He says he has been busy defending women's rights on the Commons Home Affairs Committee. Hopefully it was women he was defending there - from his speech, it would appear that his definition goes well beyond women.

It will have been the Mk2 Brave and Stunning penisy kind.

Not the boring old Mk1 cunty models; nowhere near as much cachet in those, darling.

Shame he deleted his Twitter account though, I'd like him to clarify whether he's:
A) A misogynist
B) A breathtakingly callous opportunist
C) Thick as fucking mince.

Or, I suppose, which combination of two or more of the above. Twunt.

BeeSouriante · 25/06/2025 22:14

Good for him, no doubt prompted by the 1400 trans people and allies who turned up to mass lobby the MPs about trans rights being removed and the embarrassment that is the UK compared to our Western Euro neighbours.

Hopefully we can get more people for the next one. It's not like this situation will ever stop being a problem.

What rights have been removed?

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 25/06/2025 22:21

So he's a gay man and he's accused 2 lesbians of having a 'fascists agenda' because they dared to have the definition of sex clarified by the SC.
So if the definition of sex means nothing to him, how can he call himself gay??? 🤯

Boiledbeetle · 25/06/2025 22:24

Does he not realise he's spouting shite?

You are right that this situation will never stop being a problem: men hellbent on ignoring womens boundaries and the meaning of the word no, women continiously demanding they have basic human rights too that includes being allowed to legally exclude men.

So how do you propose we go forward?
