Hi,
My children's school sent a letter Monday night about their pride event happening tomorrow. They have a meeting for parents tomorrow at 1.45pm which some parents have expressed concern with and want to know what is being discussed/given to the children tomorrow.
The teacher responded with these resources;
Assembly will be first thing in the morning after registration as normal. Activities will take place during the day depending on individual class timetables.
Below are a few of the websites that contain information and resources that we use in school.
www.popnolly.com
justlikeus.org
www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52872693.amp
www.theproudtrust.org/schools-and-training/secondary-resources/lgbt-pride-resources-for-teachers/
Does anyone have any info about these? I can't see the actual resources without signing up to any of these. They are also renewing their rainbow flag award which I objected to last time. I must say there are several parents commenting publicly on school app about concerns so this does feel like a change in tide as it's usually just me.
I'm really not happy about any of this, some parents have asked outright whether they are discussing gender identity and transgender and they haven't answered the question which worries me. Also just responding and missing the point with this;
The event will be very similar to those we have been holding every summer for the last few years. This year we just thought it would be nice to invite parents to take part.
As in previous years and at other times it has arisen throughout the curriculum, children will be taught about acceptance for all. This includes those in LGBT+ communities. This is done in a child appropriate way and focuses on having full respect for people and families and their differences.
Would appreciate some guidance, I will be attending the meeting tomorrow but I want to be armed with some info about these companies they have linked.
Thanks
