Looking at the replies, she might have been better posting on Bluesky.

Those responses are amazing thanks for the link @nauticant

Is there a nitter version please?

Waitwhat23 · 19/06/2025 23:33

They've just posted again regarding their edition 'written entirely by women for IWD' which included an article by Ellie Gomersall. Who is a man.

They're ridiculous.

The National isn't credible as a newspaper. It's barely credible as a lining material for a rabbit's hutch.

DuesToTheDirt · 19/06/2025 23:48

I saw this on Facebook earlier. There are some supportive comments for the National, but negative comments include

"At the national we deal in truth"
pure comedy gold

You deal in truth?
You probably had to use Google to spell it.

Yous wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in the face like a wet kipper

why are you fools on my feed?

Think she could put national out the game in 5 minutes watch what you say about her

Waitwhat23 · 20/06/2025 00:04

On the comments on the National's website, there's actually some numpty making the 'toilets in private houses are gender neutral!!!' argument.

Operation make them look...very stupid.

Christinapple · 20/06/2025 00:12

"It is very difficult to find examples of Sex Matters campaigning on issues which do not relate to gender identity or matters related to the so-called trans "debate". "

It's a valid point worth mentioning and you can say the same for FWS and JK Rowling. It's almost entirely about trans people and complaining about pride flags and attacking any person or org who are LGBT supportive and/or refuse to say exactly what gender critical people want them to say.

Women really do face issues and some feminist groups in Britain have decided this is what they will spend all their time, funds and resources on. Just a few days ago it was all about a wildlife bird charity organising a nature walk in Bedfordshire.

Speaking of FWS, are they still keeping a digital database of the personal details of trans women who play sport? Or was that plan quietly dropped after public backlash who found it very stalker-ish?

JKR would likely love to pull this apart but I expect is busy with having a life, work and supporting vulnerable and exploited people.

Surely that should be an Arbroath Smokie not a kipper, this is Scotland!

That criticism of Sex Matters is ridiculous. They are very clear about their objectives:

  • promote human rights where they relate to sex
  • advance education about sex and the law
  • promote the sound administration of the law in relation to sex and equality in the law
All three of those are existentially threatened by Gender Self-ID. So it's not at all surprising that their campaigning is strongly related to it. Sex Matters are completely clear that they are not an all-purpose human-rights or feminist organization. This is a good thing: narrowly-focussed campaign groups can be highly effective, as FWS have also demonstrated - they have a similar central mission of "Protect 'sex' in law and policy".
ItsCoolForCats · 20/06/2025 09:29

Doesn't Owen Jones write for the National sometimes? That alone would be enough to put me off.

Arran2024 · 20/06/2025 10:12

They are so biased when it comes to Scottish independence, I reckon they lost sight of the fact that they should report anything in a balanced way. And of course being so pro independence means operating in a way that fits the SNP agenda.

Fair enough if that's their market but it is a bit rich to get annoyed when called out for it. The editor sees nothing wrong in wildly biased reporting - and I dont buy her paper.

Got it. Who needs to worry about poverty or a potential WW3 upon us when we've got Bruces calling themselves Brendas to focus all our energy on.

Greyskybluesky · 20/06/2025 12:27

It must be gutting to be a TRA and look around to find a credible group that represents your rights and stands up for you, no matter what. One that you can really throw your support behind who is clear about their mission, can articulate their aims and is run by people who got off their backsides and actually took action instead of sitting there whining.

A women's rights group focusing on women's rights. How very dare they? Don't they realise they should be turning their attention towards important, manly stuff?

And isn't it weird how people like Chris don't go round scolding other single-issue organisations like the RSPCA or NSPCC or Cancer Relief? It's almost as if Chris is motivated purely by his hatred of women talking about things that affect them.

Is this an admission that Sex Matters and FWS (aren't they both run by the same people anyway?) are single-issue focused?

Glad that's cleared up. Then it's accurate for the media to call them anti-trans since they are focused only on being anti-trans (that and complaining about pride flags during pride month).

Giving big "All you harpy, hysterical women look the same anyway" vibes there mate! And the single issue is the rights of women, the regaining and retention of women's rights. How very dare they put women first.

Not run by the same people, no.

Perhaps you could check facts before posting?

We can care about the erosion of women’s rights and global warming, WW3 etc. This is a feminist board, so discusses things to do with women’s rights.

But you know that. It’s not a serious talking point, is it? More just along the lines of “shut up women shut up women shut up women”

The issues of males in female spaces, sports and having male crimes attributed to females are very much important and front page feminist issues.

Males

It has nothing to do with 'trans' people. But MALES.

And it goes both ways; Who needs to worry about poverty or a potential WW3 upon us when we've got Bruces calling themselves Brendas demanding they are called by female pronouns and having a breakdown if they're not? First World problems!!

Love the comments. But oh my, a circulation of 3k or so and presumably declining because they’re pushing increasingly unpopular views on a population that is far more sensible than they are.
