Why is @BeeSouriante not banned on here for trolling threads. He’s not posting in good faith at all.

While I have some sympathy for this view, it's the replies to people like him that help make this board so good.

ODBOD - oh do buzz off dear
New acronym

That anecdote she told about Keir Starmer last year was bizarre.

It was very odd.

I do hope AB can have some peace in her life. She’s had awful treatment in her job and had to take them to court, then her vet practice turn on her and the support group she goes to has employees there too, so she may have felt she had to self-censor. You wouldn’t blame her for becoming totally paranoid, it must feel like there’s nowhere where she won’t be persecuted for her views. And yet she fights on.

Yes it was so weird about the two staff members being in the same support group as her! What are the chances. How awful.
What was the story about Keir Starmer? Was it something to do with him looking at her funny or similar? It rings a bell but can't remember. Sounds like she's been thoroughly stressed out with everything over the last few years.

exwhyzed · 04/07/2025 21:30

Honestly, AB sounds like quite an unpleasant person to deal with.

A lot of the Garden Court Chambers case makes so much more sense to me now after reading this judgement. I always felt there was so much more to it than the GC stuff and clearly there is.

But at the end of the day you need to apply policy fairly and in a way that isn't discriminatory. The vets failed to do so, GCC failed to do so. AB sound like she is rude and unpleasant nightmare to deal with at times, and increasingly litigious, but she isn't wrong and she was treated in a way others wouldn't have been. I hope she gets a big apology, a precedent set on the case law and not a lot else.

MarieDeGournay · 04/07/2025 21:31

Has anyone else noticed how Bee loves the word 'seething'?
Apparently we are all 'seething' with hate - not just your average common-or-garden 'filled with hate', but seething with it.

I'm not in the UK, but seeing the weather reports, I'm guessing that 'seething' is waaaaay too energetic to be doing in a heatwaveSmile

Absolute insanity that this even was accepted, no matter won.

This must be appealed, it's beyond crazy that 'gender critical' beliefs have got far more privilege than any other - it's not even about the unscientific nonsense that underlies them or that they've been extended to any kind of hate, but this is getting into 'thought crime' territory.

'race realists / critical' people must be licking their lips.

How is the knowledge that sex is fixed, binary and immutable 'unscientific' Butters?

Disclosure of vested interest - I get a square on my bingo card if you try to leverage DSDs. I've already got hatred, thought crime, MAGA and racism so am feeling quietly confident on the bingo front today.

You keep telling yourself that. It doesn’t change the truth.

I would agree but the KS encounter was years ago.

@BeeSouriante as someone said up thread (“butters” lol) this ruling is something you should welcome as it shores up that consumers can not be discriminate against because of a protected characteristic.

This means you are also protected, so crack out the sherry and celebrate.

CEO of TKmax publicly declared that TERFs were not welcome in his shops.

It will be no hardship to me to stay away from TKMaxx. CEO would do well to consider who's got the most money to spend in the beleaguered British high street.

Should anyone like a little light relief/an insight into the quality of mind and reasoning on the TRA side, the brain trust that is r/transgenderuk is examining the Bailey judgment: www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/s/WZOS6fNWfa

Yes, you'd think the pro TRA crowd would be happy. If they get denied services because of their unscientific belief that humans can change sex, this judgement will help them challenge it.

teawamutu · 04/07/2025 22:04

It just occurred to me re the full records being sent to the boarding kennel: I can believe she was rude, and that's not right.

But I can also believe that if I'd been subjected to as much foul abuse and threatening behaviour as AB had, I might take a very maximalist approach to protecting personal information and get a bit twitchy around people who seemed rather careless with it.

SidewaysOtter · 04/07/2025 22:08

This must be appealed

@BeeSouriante, the judgment is freely available on Allison's website. Please do talk us through the points of law on which this would be appealed. Because you know "I don't like this" isn't a valid reason for appeal, right? And as PP says, surely you're happy to see a protected characteristic be, well, protected?

it's beyond crazy that 'gender critical' beliefs have got far more privilege than any other

What's the saying that comes to mind? When you're accustomed to privilege, the equality of others feels like your oppression. Your privilege has been removed and you're been treated equally. Tough tits that you don't like it.

Really? I read the whole judgement and didn't read anything (having worked in a past life as a receptionist!) that came across as particularly difficult, let alone unpleasant.

Most of the negative things written by the staff were pretty much dismissed by the judge as lies. Anyway, irrespective of the protected characteristic, the surgery staff behaved appallingly and I'm glad Allison Bailey won.

'Being a terf is a protected characteristic now?'

Yes, yes it is!

Yup, since the Maya won her appeal against CGD Europe. Have they only just noticed?

KnottyAuty · 04/07/2025 22:24

This interaction has made my day it is so wacky.

Accusing Allison Bailey of being gay critical and race critical - really?
These people don't like to confront basic facts do they?

Allison Bailey sues TRA vets

Or come up with their own ideas. They just appropriate and imitate.

Shouldn't be surprising.

He must have ‘word of the day’ toilet roll, and he’s on ‘S’.

murasaki · 04/07/2025 22:35

The mere idea that GC views have had privilege is so outstandingly batshit that I can't believe an actual human typed that.

When you think about all the people who have lost jobs, suffered through tribunals and court cases and been verbally and physically abused as opposed to those who have ridden roughshod over the actual law for years, it's mindblowing that anyone could think that.

I've read the whole judgment. It's not a good look when most of your witnesses tell lies.

And you don't call as a witness the vet who had dealt almost all the time with Allison's pets, but who just happened to share her views.
