YHA dormitories now same sex?

I can't find anything about this online. I have been avoiding YHA hostels since they became mixed sex but would like to book for dd and friends this summer. I'll write to them and ask but wondered if I had missed any announcement in light of the SC ruling? I had a very nasty experience in a mixed dorm and don't want dd to risk it.

I haven’t seen them make any announcement and they were captured, but it can’t hurt to remind them of their responsibility to exclude all men from female only spaces relying on SSEs.

It might be an idea to book out a whole dorm room for all the girls, if that’s possible. I suspect they might be “waiting for the updated EHRC guidance” before they update their policy.

When did YHA start doing mixed dorms? I've never encountered mixed dorms, as far as I'm aware they're always separate unless you book a private room then you do what you want.

I'd just book a full room tbh. It saves worry about theft too anyway.

Dorms are 'male' or 'female', but were on the basis of gender self ID.

YHA Beer currently has illegal, mixed sex washrooms and toilets.

Two rooms (one was once male, the other female). Both have the doors taken off.

Both rooms have a communal area with 1 sink, and two toilet cubicals (normal gap over the top and bottom). Three shower cubicals (fully enclosed but open to the communal area).

Toilets have the man/woman sign on the door.

It was awful to be waiting for 8yo DD in the toilet (I was by the sink) with men walking in and using the cubical next to her.

Would be solved by putting the main door back on the communal space (which opened to a corridor), and making one male and the other female, as they used to be.
