Yet we are still her arguing the toss with a variety of nut wits.

Why are we doing it why are we giving it oxygen

Should we just break the habit of a lifetime and just ignore their incursions and derailments .

I resolve to only pay attention to current and future legal cases and positive developments, and ignore all the silly noise wherever it comes from.

Just a small act of defiance from me a few moments ago. I crossed out a paper survey which asked for Gender, and wrote Sex.
Options were Female, Male, Other.

I disagree with you - there's so much still to do. My sector is completely captured and hasn't changed its mind since the For Women Scotland judgment. I certainly still can't speak out at work. My children (some in their 20s and apparently very intelligent - one is qualifying as a doctor this year! ) are still fervent believers.

You see, this is where I don’t get it. How can a Doctor, who has been trained to know that Women and Men, even ignoring the different sex characteristics, have very different physiology (for example haemoglobin levels vary by about 12% by sex) still believe in GI nonsense? There they are, looking at say 100 individuals blood results, and regardless of how those people identify, they would be able to sort those results in to two piles, one Female and one Male.
My BiL is a consultant, he thinks it’s all ridiculous, but of course, he has been in medicine for 25+ years, so pre indoctrination.
I find it even more astonishing that the Veterinary profession also believes in Gender woo. Maybe Posy Parker should have said ‘I identify as a Vet, and I know what a full udder on a bull looks like.’

HelenHywater Please don’t think I am singling out your DC, I have an Oxbridge educated child who has told me I am a bigot over this issue.

I don't argue directly with the terminally stupid but I do sometimes respond to points raised for the benefit of any lurkers who may need more info.

I saw this the other day which resonated!

Don't worry - I'm shocked that my daughter will be working in a hospital. She currently wants to specialise in obs & gynae too.

"why do all these well-informed and specialist educated people disagree with us?" - The correct answer to this question is obvious.

Yes, the obvious answer is that even intelligent people can be extremely stupid when it comes to some subjects. Like believing that men can be women.

There is still a need to exercise logic and refine one's reasoning skills. They come in very useful and are the sort of thing which wins court cases and public debates.

there may have been a point where my reasoning skills were very refined but they've got blunter and blunter and I just don't have the energy anymore. I suppose I've hit the wall of Fuckoff.

How on earth does she square that circle in her mind?! 🤯

DustyWindowsills · 11/06/2025 20:10

I've only been hanging around here for six weeks, and I've posted a handful of times. I'm hugely grateful for all the tireless work that goes on here, combatting fuckwittery. I avoid real-life conversations on gender issues, other than with my husband, who is rational and sympathetic but can't fully understand a woman's perspective. Our adult kids are captured. My mother and sister are #bekind at the molecular level. There are (perfectly nice) TWs in two of my friendship groups, and I don't want to risk giving offence. But I no longer feel able to pretend that the emperor is wearing a fancy new outfit, as I can see the harm this does to vulnerable young people, to women's rights, and to society in general. After six weeks here, I feel better prepared to deal with any awkward conversations that might arise. So please keep up the good work!

Igmum · 11/06/2025 20:18

I think it is so entrenched that, after 10 years going in to this cult, it will take 20 to emerge. Schools, universities, the NHS, the civil service, the 18-28 ish generation, charities and anything to do with autism are all so firmly captured it will not be a fast recovery.

On the bright side, we can now speak and (even better) so can they, both of which open people’s eyes to what is going on.

I agree. And many of them believe that GC women are old biddies who will die out soon, presumably like those awful racists who voted for Brexit. And with the cult so entrenched as you say, I suppose it will be up to younger people to vote with their feet.

I read an interesting piece the other day, which I can't now locate. Dunno if I found it through MN, or possibly Unherd or somewhere like that. The writer was talking about the "why can't we convince them?" point. Over-simplifying massively, their argument was, that are two ways people arrive at a position: through logic and the 'scientific method' or by an emotional response. And that it is futile to hope to sway those who have come from an emotional direction by using the logical toolkit. It seemed quite a sage point at the time.

That's not it.

You'll never change anyone's mind by belittling, insulting their intelligence, being rude to them or telling them they are awful people. This is exactly how all of the GC posters here have spoken to me over the past year or so I've been here. The gratuitous SPOT THE BLOKES HAR HAR! Posts and painting all trans women as AGO perverts isn't going to win anyone over who doesn't already think like you. That's why you're not changing anyone's minds.

Yes, I know, TRAs say terrible things too, TERF is a slur blah blah blah...

3beesinmybonnet · 11/06/2025 21:08

@PrawnofthePatriarchy
I'm sure there are many many long time lurkers, like me, who've felt able to get involved, even if only in a small way, because of the hard work by you, and other regulars on this board. I hope you're sitting with your feet up enjoying your well earned rest with your favourite tipple.

Thank you so much for all you've done, it is very much appreciated.

It's not up.to us to change anyone's minds.

All I really want is clear, evidenced information. References. Data where it's available.

People who are able to think clearly, and communicate clearly.

I give less and less of a fuck about being 'nice' when we're discussing the wholesale loss of women's rights and children being sterilised.

Sentimental bullshit and 'be kind' obfuscation are a large part of the problem. Facts don't care about anyone's feelings.

If people disagree thats their choice.

And women being snippy on here is never ever anywhere even slightly close to actual rape and death threats.

I actually don't care for arguing with GC posters anymore. It's boring and demoralising after so long.

I was just pointing out why you're struggling to convert people to the cause, because the posters who were discussing it didn't seem to understand why.

So why have you come on this thread? Your post makes no sense in that respect.

You give no indication as to how you can draw the conclusion that we are struggling to “convert” people on here.

Since it is a site that is anonymous, and people change their usernames, you cannot assert that, anymore than i can claim we have changed lots of minds.

Having said that we are only on page two and a number of people have said they are lurkers who have been persuaded by the GC POV.

In the real world public opinion is going our way because of our collective efforts, to get it on the public agenda.

Do not be demoralised, i find that the truth will set you free, maybe try it you might feel better.

Ah there's that cutting sarcasm that's doesn't win hearts and minds again...

The post I was replying literally said "I don't understand"why we can't convince them?" I'm telling you why. That's all.

Igneococcus · 12/06/2025 08:13

I've been on MN trans threads for a good 10 years now (possible under a different name at first) and the change in number and diversity of posters on these threads is mindboggling, same was true when I was still writing comments in the Times. Anyone who believes that we haven't or can't change peoples' minds by posting here is deluding themselves.

Bannedontherun · 12/06/2025 08:18

Well i was ill informed before I came across this board about 4 years ago, it was a tue education for me.

OP posts:
CanOfMangoTango · 12/06/2025 09:51

I heard about MN being a hotbed of anti-trans in the mainstream media and thought that sounds like a place i can get on with.

Obviously we are all coming at this from a women's rights perspective. The spin from trans rights activists means that is anti trans. Anything which doesn't centre their issues is anti trans.

It's easy to step through the curtain once you realise it's there.

In the past i have tried to make myself believe people can change sex, but i just can't. I can be polite about it but I can't lie to myself or others any more.
