My tiktok FYP is full of post about Lilly Tino flaunting his Disney ban and taking videos and pictures in Disney toilets, which is against Disneys rules and the LAW in Florida.

Apparently one of the women in the video is pressing charges and planning in sueing.

Comments section is full of people who have Trans flags in their names writing things like 'I'm trans but Lilly Tino is not a transwoman he is a pervert'
'I hate Lilly Tino'
'So sick of this man prendibg to be trans and making teouble for all the real transwomen'

Uh, what???!

How can they possibly say who is really trans and who isn't? Isn't it all internal and based on feelings?

Isn't it transphobic to say Lily isn't a woman if he says he is?

So a transwoman is always a woman until they're problematic...but only for the trans community, being problematic to women is fine??

But they've succeeded: they've lost weight. How dare you body-shame them, you're being fatphobic! They're the most vulnerable and they've gone to so much effort and shown such commitment to transitioning to slim, you should Be Kind and validate their slim identity.

I suspect that some of the vitriol stems from it being that - for some at least - "being trans" is more than identifying as transgender. It's being part of a community, it's being on the Right Side of History, it's a marker of being a kind/lovely/progressive/liberal/whatever person, it's being a brave soldier in the fight against fascism, but above all being an oppressed and vulnerable victim.
