Pride month events

We had an all-staff briefing for my department today in which presentation was given, including all the events that were going to happen for our directorate to celebrate Pride. Every single speaker in all the events was male.

This briefing was on teams, I'm proud of myself for putting a message in the chat asking if Pride was purely for men and whether there were going to be any events led by women.

I suppose it could have been worse. At least there were no male women There were all the hideously ugly flags scattered through the presentation. How you can make a rainbow look that ugly is beyond me.

Well done. Did you get any response?

Did you post this message in their chat too?

Well, Chris, given the flack women get for trying to protect out rights, no, I suspect she didn't.

Flack = pile-ons, death threats, loss of job.

Get your head out of your arse and just think about it for a sec.

ETA: Bloody well done OP.

Brave op. Love it. The misogny is rife.

Good on you for speaking up.

Can I ask if the company also have a month of activities for other areas of diversity and inclusion? If not why not?

Not, and as someone who is disabled some of the disability stuff is absolutely appalling. Not from my directorate and I've had senior staff members take forward issues for me, but our IT and Estates are seemingly set up to make things worse for disabled people...

A senior director (who is also a lesbian) has spoken to me and has committed to leading an event. She's also committed to getting more involved with the staff group that leads this area.

I drifted away from the LGB group when it became an alphabet soup, I suspect other lesbians did the same and therefore in planning events we are simply not visible 😔
