A message to DPD

Just deliver my parcel, I don't need every icon on your App festooned with a trans/rainbow flag. Just do what you are paid to do and don't shuff your political crap down my throat.

Rant over.

No issue with pride month but I would genuinely be interested in the LGBTQIA+ credentials of DPD and other organisations who update their logo for a few weeks.

lcakethereforeIam · 03/06/2025 11:17

Do they put rainbows on their Saudi branch?

Gettingbysomehow · 03/06/2025 11:22

This does piss me off as well, they are a delivery service not a political organisation. I expect my parcels just to be delivered. I'd be equally as pissed off if they had clowns all over their site or whatever.
Everyone has to give a message now instead of just doing their bloody job.
I've got nothing against the gay community but I can't see what it's got to do with delivery of a parcel.
What are they actually saying? We are gay friendly? Well I'd take equality to be part of your job and a given, you don't need to advertise it. It's so patronising.
Bandwagon and let's jump on it.

Why is it suddenly considered acceptable to complain about Pride Month? It had been going for years.
Do you also whine about Black History Month. Mental Health Awareness Week, Dementia Awareness etc etc ?
We have a history of celebrating people who have had to/are struggling for equality or support and I’d say that’s something to be proud of.

Because none of those other things you listed are celebrated with flags and re painting police cars.

Allaboutmememe · 03/06/2025 11:11

I have a rainbow in my bedroom window.
Its not for pride i just like it when the sun gleam in.

That’s the old style rainbow that actually looks like a rainbow. Unlikely to be the one people are talking about.

KathyMalloryKicksAss · 03/06/2025 11:24

Sadly, I think homophobia is going to increase massively now.

Due to the fact that all fetishists, furries and sexual exhibitionists are all included under the pretty rainbow flag with the LGB.

Organisations (and handmaidens) are so busy virtue signalling to see the grassroots damage this is causing.

But, hey, as long as they all look good for social media.

HereForTheFreeLunch · 03/06/2025 11:31

Interesting use of language by pp's. Suddenly the pride flag is all about gay people again and it's homophobic to grumble.

After about 10 years of it being all about the T+++ and the gay flag itself been bastardised to include everyone under the sun.

TiredWife · 03/06/2025 11:31

My DB is gay and in his 60s and hates the Pride stuff now. He was part of the original movement in the 1980s when it really was about being comfortable being out, and campaigning for equality and acceptance.

He says all of his gay friends feel that has been achieved and they just want to get on with their lives without Pride constantly banging on about it as if they are some kind of different special group.

The 'T' has tainted Pride for me. All I see now is the grooming of children with dangerous gender ideology and adult men with erections prancing around in leggings. And when I see companies supporting it, it makes me question the judgement of those managers endorsing it and whether that's a business I want to support.
It's a small-scale, personal protest, but as far as possible I avoid spending money with businesses displaying heavy Pride branding in June.

Quite. A pivot was clearly called for.

@ArabellaScott going off topic I know but as a dog lover, what on earth is “puppy fetish” - my mind is well and truly boggled at that one

WaffleParty · 03/06/2025 10:54

@TangenitalContrivences what? All this thread has shown is people complaining. No actual evidence of any harm done by someone including the ride flag on their website/app whatever.

This article explains the problem.

The LGBTQ+ safeguarding scandal hiding in plain sight - Transgender Trend

LGBTQ+ has become a protected group within society, with endorsement from the police. Predators can hide within a group that escapes scrutiny

Oh god it’s a tiny picture on an app. Get a hobby.

Which hobby would that be exactly?

My LGB DC hate pride month. Surely they are welcome/included all the time, not just for one month per year.

Think they need to learn their history tbf

DragonRunor · 03/06/2025 11:57

lcakethereforeIam · 03/06/2025 11:15

Rainbows are lovely. Pride rainbows now give me a kneejerk reaction of dismay. I see women being abused by people decked in rainbows. It makes me sad. Also reminds of C&A. I miss that shop. That also makes me sad.

I agree with this (apart from C&A!) along with how my lovely lesbian cousin got screamed and sworn at at a Pride march for not wanting to go out with a transwoman man. That made me sad too

StMarie4me · 03/06/2025 11:57

I’m sure they won’t miss your business when you stomp off in a mardy.

Well a look at Fred Sargent's x account shows he's not too enamoured by Pride Month as it stands now either...

They are well aware of the history of pride TYVM.
Just unsure as to why Tesco/Waitrose/DPD et al need to advertise they are "gay friendly". They are a shop/delivery company. They need to sell/deliver things. Thats all.

It's performative rainbow washing.

MorrisZapp · 03/06/2025 12:00

Bobbymoore123 · 03/06/2025 10:14

I'm sorry you had to acknowledge that gay people exist?

Next time keep your eyes closed when you open your post, if that proves too difficult then just grow up and don't get bothered by things which have absolutely no active influence on your life.

Gay people have existed throughout my entire life, I'm close friends with some of them. They really, truly don't need DPD to highlight their sexual orientation via the medium of ghastly overworked rainbows plastered on their stationery.

And we all know it isn't about gay people anyway.

TangenitalContrivences · 03/06/2025 12:00

StMarie4me · 03/06/2025 11:57

No stomp and no marry, just a quiet consumer choice - or does everything you do have to be performative?

Maybe your DB would appreciate that trans people are fighting the same fight he was fighting in the 60s and show a bit more empathy.
The idea that trans people can be dismissed as just “men with leggings prancing about with erections” is deeply offensive.

If trans people were fighting for a place in society without impinging on other people’s rights, they would have so much support. You might want to consider the impact they are having on gay people’s rights before demanding their support

WaffleParty · 03/06/2025 12:15

Most trans people just want to get on with their lives and have no impact on anyone else’s.

PrettyDamnCosmic · 03/06/2025 12:15

It's the men with leggings prancing about with erections who are deeply offensive. Why should anyone pander to this public fetish display?
