It all just makes you wonder where the PR people for these artists are, and if they're doing their jobs at all. Are they trying, and just failing to rein in those massive celebrity egos? Or have they swallowed the propaganda themselves, to the extent that they pretend not to see how hard this will hit the bottom line?
They must know by now that going in all guns blazing for the TQ cult is a loser. It's not even a case of "culture wars" or left vs right anymore. Ordinary people are just sick of hearing about it. They want their favourite celebrities to put the loudspeakers away and entertain. No-one wants to be lectured to when they're trying to have fun. And it's especially dangerous to do so on an issue evidence suggests a silent majority is at odds with the media about. If people continue to buy JK Rowling's books in the millions, despite the media's hysterical attempts to deride her as modern-day Hitler, what does that tell you?
We've seen this so many times now. The minute people get a chance to anonymously express their opinion, they do. They quietly support the people they agree with, and ignore the ones they don't. It's a case of "You're going to deride me as a bigot and shame me out of speaking up? Okay, fine. I won't tune into your stuff anymore." And then we see these huge, catastrophic flops, of franchises which believed they were too big to fail, and artists who thought everyone would love them unconditionally.
I wonder how much of an effect this will have on JADE's career. I think her shilling for the cult might have already been holding her back more than she realises. Despite the objective quality of her songs, none of them have really broken through in America. I wonder if little things like the "ladies and gentlemen, theys and thems" in her lyrics turned audiences off more than expected.
And I wonder if she's struggling in the UK for the same reason. I notice her tour is playing much smaller venues than you'd expect. I'm sure there will be some spin to cover that, but to me it suggests the tickets simply aren't selling. It's not that the music isn't good enough for all those zillennial former Little Mix fans to enjoy it. So why aren't they showing up for her? I thought it was curious. I'd look at these venues and listen to the music and think "why isn't JADE bigger?" But now I think I was missing the puzzle piece of her social media presence. It must have been turning people off for a while now.
And instead of taking that on board and going for a course correction, she's chosen to double down. I almost feel sorry for her, actually. She's setting fire to her own career, and for what? Drag queens? Women are a much bigger audience. It's a stupid choice.
